3.3TT Mishimoto's Stinger GT Catch Can Thread

Show us how the product looks like! :)

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to bump up this thread with an update on this project! For the full scoop, make sure you head over to our Engineering Blog!

Kia might have caught up with its luxury - mostly German - counterparts, but will it struggle to keep up? Every internal combustion engine produces the process by-product known as blow-by. The combination of direct injection and forced induction only exacerbates the issue with no protection for the intake valves. Where VW and BMW have devised complex air/oil separators that run in line with their PCV system (which still need backup from a catch can), Kia still lets the oil and fuel contaminated crank case pressure run directly through the intake.

Since our Stinger arrived in the R&D facility our Engineering team has been working tirelessly testing our direct fit catch can kit to keep carbon off of the Lambda II's intake valves. Stay tuned for more info and testing results in the next few weeks! And make sure you head to the Engineering Blog for more info!

As always, feel free to shoot me any questions you might have!

-Nick

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to bump this up, since we'll have some more info on our catch can kit (and maybe even a presale) coming very soon!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Ooh, exciting! Oil catch cans are so important for DI engines. Don't believe me? Walk on over to the Miata forums and check out how much chatter there is about carbon buildup in the SkyActiv motors. Oil catch cans and PPF are two of their recommended "Day One" upgrades, as they probably should be for us.

There are very good options already out there for the Stingers. Check around. ;)

I've seen the one on the forum's store but haven't looked at other ones yet. Over $400 for a catch can seems expensive, although it looks like it's a very high quality kit. Any recommendations?

You may get some individual recommendations with this question. But there are a few threads discussing them all. Try Search!

Hey Guys!

We're back with an update for this project! Ran some testing, and the results are in! Make sure that you head over to the Engineering Blog to see just how much this can caught in our 1000 mile test. For now though, lets take a look at the finished product

Not much has changed since we last showed our progress with this kit, but now we have a slick new paint job on our robust bracket, and now looks more at home in the Stinger's engine bay.

Looks Great !! What is the competitive advantage over ADD W1 V3 Can can kit that is available for the Stinger.

Looks Great !! What is the competitive advantage over ADD W1 V3 Can can kit that is available for the Stinger.

That's a great question!

So, I can't speak exactly on the internals between ours and the ADDW1 kit, nor do we like to jump into direct comparisons with our competitors since it doesn't do the community much good if vendors are throwing shade at each other.

It kind of boils down to the engine bay aesthetic that you want to achieve, and at the end of the day we want the best for your vehicle or build, even if it isn't our parts (though we do hope it is :D) that go on your Stinger. We wanted to make sure that our kit remains as an OEM look with the all black everything, and pre-molded hoses. The cliff notes on our kit features are that we sealed our can with Viton O-rings, we use a combo of a baffle and bronze filter to ensure we're catching the maximum amount of blow-by flowing through the system, plus its covered under our lifetime warranty.

I hope that helps answer your question!
