Michelin tyre peeling

my rear tires were missing chunks after doing one burn out!! sadly that same night I curbed my rear wheels so I then replaced the rims and tires lol.

Mine did that on the rear BAD and the front just starting at 16,000 gentle miles. No turning stopped, no track, no wheelies, highway use. They were rated at 30,000 miles for tread wear and had lots of tread left, so Michelin gave me 49% off 4 new tires and Discount Tire had sale discount, old people discount, etc. so the new set of 4 was $618. I was okay with that. First time I ever had any kind of a problem with a Michelin tire. . . . . .
Pretty sure is 30,000 kms. Not miles

Their PS line is confusing. I used to run the pilot super sport which I know came with the 30K/15K mi (half for staggered), but the PS 4 series is more confusing. The 4 has 20K/10K (staggered) and 4S is 30K/15K. Interesting the canadian version offers less warranty than 20K mi (30K/1.6) than the US.

According to tirerack, the PS 4 is pretty much discontinued, while the PS 4S is the current replacement. To add greater confusion, they still stock a full assortment of the pilot super sport. Hmm... If the 4S is the current replacement, why have so many of the super sport in stock (https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...wall=Blackwall&partnum=44YR8PSSXLV2&tab=Sizes).

Note, speed ratings in () mean over.. Y=186mph, (Y)= over 186mph

the rwd stingers come with pilot sport 4 tires though i thought so it would be 20k miles... or ~32k km.. and for staggered(split fitment) they only halve the miles on rears, so if the tire in question is the front, it should keep the full miles. 1642180968324.webp

Interesting. My understanding was half mileage for front and rear since neither can be rotated to the opposite axle.

just looked up some other brands as well and it looks like they pretty much all state only rear is halved... but i'm pretty sure in the past, i've seen where it was halved for both axles on staggered... must have changed

My GT2 came with pilot sport 4 S. Michelin didn't quibble at all, since the mileage was ~~ 51% of 30,000, they allowed 49% on all 4 new tires, although the rear were really bad and the front were just starting. Fortunately Discount Tire were great and had several other discounts going on, so I was quite satisfied that it was fair.

Thanks again everyone for your invaluable advice. Michelin have agreed to pay $75 bucks per tyre and given the amount of tread left I’m okay with it. But here’s the kicker…. Good luck with getting any replacement tyres, no stock in Aussie anywhere. The Australian Manager said we can get what ever brand we want and he will still contribute. So we will see what we can get! Cheers to you all!!!

My front tires were doing this. I had no qualms about replacing them at just under 14k miles total. Went with Continentals. GL2U!

Hi. I am in NZ with same issue. Perhaps its not Kia Stinger issue and more like a Michelin tyre size 225/40/R19 issue. Bad batch ? insufficiently cured ? Has anyone had their tyres replaced by Michelin ?

I have had the same issue at 20,000 kms on MY23 Stinger GT. . 225/40/R19 both front tyres. Tyre manufacture 2022.

Michelin say its the Kia set up coupled with adaptive steering causing the issue.

I have thrown the Michelin tyres away and replaced them with Yokohama V107. Advan Sport all round.

No offer of warranty.

Adaptive steering? Causing tire wear?
