MBRP Catback + Secondary Downpipes

they are sold out ... it takes 6-8 weeks for production to ramp up.

What a deal ?!?! take paypal ?

I installed my MBRP exhaust mated to SSR mid-pipes and holy sh*t does it sound good! It's that nice throaty exhaust note I have been looking for. It reminds me a lot of the AWE systems i've heard on the Audi S4/S5.

With the Akrapovic exhaust tips there is also no drone at highway speeds. It sounds exactly the same as my SSR midpipes did at cruising speed.

If you were like me and on the fence about whether or not to go with a catback for this car. Don't be. Go buy this one. If you want it to be louder, pair it with the aftermarket midpipes and good luck staying out of Sport mode!

Gets a slightly deeper tone after break in too. The reverberation was a bit much until I wrapped my tips though.

Does wrapping the tips make that much of a difference? I have the jun mid pipes and evc and with valves open at lower rpms the cabin does get a bit loud if I’m not in sport.

1000%
everyone who has done it as mentioned a significant reduction of vibration
you can always get new tips as well , that do the trick !

wraps
tips I went with those one , 63x89 for the MBRP exhaust

I heard wrapping or extending the tips makes a huge difference from several people on any exhaust for fixing drone

That’s I’ll probably order that then. Being evc I will only have to wrap one pipe on each side so it should be a easy job.

No drone for me. I installed the Akrapovic tips at the same time as I put the MBRP exhaust on.

Can anybody with the mid pipes and this take a sound clip of casual take off, and aggressive?

I pulled out a few weeks ago. Decided it might be too loud for my neighborhood. I can cold start with the garage door shut though, thoughts on that?

I don't have a go-pro to get you outside the cabin videos. I'll see if i can get some in-cabin videos for you though as i've had others ask.

Cold start is loud. Even with the garage shut it might be an issue.

Casual take-off is subtle and wouldn't be an issue. Aggressive is loud and very much like the video shared by @Jonathan

Absolutely. It's inexpensive and quick an easy job. I highly suggest you give it a try.
I don't even run with all 4 exhaust tips wrapped, just 2/4. All 4 wrapped took away too much exhaust note in the cabin.

My jun evc kind of has backing plates might make it hard to install or even not worth it I’ll have to get under the car and see if I even have space to add it.

Edit, had a look and there’s not much room with those backing plates. They probably do a good enough job as it is blocking some of the sound. The widest area is like a inch and smallest is less then 1/2 a inch. I would have to drop my exhaust I think.

Honestly if you were to do it right, you would have to drop the exhaust mufflers so you could wrap the exhaust tips to the plate and slide them to the oem... kinda of a pain.
Or get aftermarket tips that would clap on your exhaust tips

Ps: is that salt cramped up on that bolt??

I’ve got noob questions.

I’m trying to figure out the midpipes and downpipes thing, but I’m in CA and I’m pretty sure that either one would be catless which I cannot do here. Question is, does the Stinger have 2 sets of cats? In looking at pictures of the stock exhaust there appears to be another set of cats on the pipes between the stock downpipes and exhaust. So if I do a catback exhaust I am removing the secondary cats, is this correct or are those things not cats? If so, is removing the secondary cats illegal in CA? Would this mean that only axle back exhaust is legal in CA? I only ask because I don’t want to have to reinstall the stock exhaust every time I smog it.

The Stinger does have 4 catalytic converters. No, a Catback exhaust is just that, after the cats. Removing any catalytic converters from factory is “illegal” in our lovely brain dead state. Axle backs are only “illegal” if it violates that stupid decibel law

Thanks for confirming. I am surely wanting to pull the trigger, just don't want to do this twice!

I have a sound-deadener exercise I'll be going through in the next couple of days in order to quiet the increase in noise from just the midpipe installation. If that goes well, the MBRP is now atop my list for cat-backs. Great post!

So those two large cylinders in the middle of this piece of the OEM exhaust aren’t the secondary cats?

If not, what are they? Catback exhausts all encompass this piece of the exhaust, correct?
