Maximum Gas Mileage

^^^Yesterday evening, when I started to gas up, the MPG showed 50.1 :D. My range after filling up ($5.25/gallon) was 337, so, the car sorted itself out.

My best mpg happened when i bought it in Nashville TN and drove it straight to Cleveland OH. Averaged around 32mpg. Never went above 28 since than.

My couple of manual calculations after fill-up showed the carputer readings were 1.5 to 2 mpg high. Interested to see what others get.

Looking at all of my fillups (i have tracked reported vs actual) i find the car reports between 0.5 and 1.7 high, but typically around 1.2 mpg high.

Driving on my custom mode with the Racechip piggyback on Map 7. The mpg is pretty good, I'm pleased.

My custom:
Sport steering
Sport Powertrain
Comfort Suspension

I like the 1.6 million miles of real world data... For the 3.3 twin turbo stingers.

Much better than the dashboard estimates.

Does anybody know if the A/C gets reduced in sport mode?

On the topic of AC, I've noticed it blows much much colder when the car is moving vs stop and go traffic. At least on the 4 cyl model. Sure this is to be expected (more air flow over condenser). My old G would blow ice cold just standing still.

What I don't notice is the engagement of the compressor. This wasn't noticeable on the G either, but very noticeable on my old camaro (4th gen), like someone dropping the anchor.

From today's fill up.

Did the unthinkable. Put 87 in... It was $4/gal at the costco in kenosha.

Interesting. My ‘18 GT blows ice cold at idle. I used to have a car that was horrible at idle but ice cold above 1k rpm. 2005 Ford Five Hundred

I bet the compressor part numbers are different for the 4/6 cyl models. Probably smaller tonnage/btu.

You won't notice the compressor engage. All Hyundai/Kia vehicles use a VDC (Variable Displacement Compressor). The compressor is turning all the time, internally the compressor displaces anywhere from 0 to 100% based on need and isn't clutch operated so you don't feel it kick in.

I believe they should be sized based on the cabin volume with respect to the BTU requirement.

Either way - still could be different part numbers

Did a small road trip yesterday (~60 miles). It was pretty hot out, around 90F. Since putting in 87, I notice take off from a stand still seems weaker. Once moving it's relatively ok, but passing also seems weaker.

When it gets down to ~1/4 tank or so, it's getting the good juice.

The two days I drove to get to Milwaukee from Salt Lake City (trending to lower elevation) I saw consistent 28.5/mpg. I expect to see that drop to around 25/mpg going back up.

I had been getting 25.2 until I started trying an E30 mix with my jb4 set to map 3. It has dropped to 24.6, after a couple tank fulls.
Part of it might be that with higher E mixes, you get less mileage, but more likely because I had it in sport mode all the time with that shit eating grin because it feels so much faster and responsive.:D
These cars are a beast on higher maps.

Driving from home to near Martinsburg, WV (~240 miles) today, saw 29.8 on the trip mileage. Smart mode, cruise set 9 over the speed limit. Saw 384 miles to empty when I filled it.

I would hope so. Otherwise it would be a waste of the higher map/output/tune. ;)
I just know that map1 doesn’t do much. I blended some 100 with 91 so I was probably about 94 on map 2, still somewhat disappointed. Now that I have E30 on map3, there is a big difference.

Just did a road trip from Portland to Seattle and back. 92 octane.

Up was about 26.9 MPG in eco mode--with some city driving mixed in. 3-4 people in the car.

Back was pretty much all highway and I got 29.7 in eco. This was with 3 people in the car.

Was keeping it easy and not-so-spirited except when passing slow people, but cruised mostly at ~75mph.
