3.3TT Lowering Springs are bad for stock shocks?

Interesting. I thought that price was outrageous. I didn't know if dealer installed the springs, they'd knowingly void your warranty and not inform you. They said nothing about my warranty for suspension being voided. I've gone back to them to ask this and waiting to hear back. Looking to get this done around March after the winter. Will report back what they say about the suspension.
Seeing as how these are a genuine Kia accessory I can’t see how they would be able to argue that they void your suspension warranty. It also shouldn’t matter whether they install them, you do or someone else does.

Geniune kia accessory?

Anyone know where to get the stinger lowered in the greater Toronto area. Kia wants almost $1500 plus taxes for the Eibach Pro Kit installed and alignment. That's seems absurdly high. I was figuring since they sell the springs, I won't have any warranty issues down the road.

their breakdown was as folllows:

springs $480
labour $800
alignment $160

i don't know any mechanics or good shops that can do this. Any help in steering me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

thanks,
$800 labour is steep. Should be a 4 hour job. Typically it’s $150/hour shop rate so should be more like $600. Ask them how many hours for the install.

Build a Stinger on Kia.ca and look at the accessories on the second step. Eibach springs and sways are there.

This was why I was thinking I'd have them do it. It's an accessory they offer as part of your order for the car and they sell for install after as well. So it shouldn't void warranty. I just don't know if they have to do it to keep warranty. I'll find that out. The price for labour shocked me too. I will check other Kia dealers as well.

Got a 2nd quote from another Kia dealership and I swear they are on crack.

springs $480
labour $1300
alignment $160

This labour is almost double what the other dealership is asking. Do they think people are stupid..

LOL so 8.5 hours at $150/hour? If it's going to take them over 8 hours to install springs don't go anywhere near that dealership. It took me just over 5 hours without a lift.

My local dealer said they would install springs for $980 plus tax, including the springs. London Kia was the one, give them a call and ask, might be worth the 2 hour drive.

I am in London every now and again for a few days over the weekend. I can totally do that. thx man.

I got my car from Brantford Kia, I just put in a request with them too. I think all dealerships in the Toronto area are on crack when it comes to the labour for the install. I check some others out of town as well.

Hey everyone I have a 2022 Kia Stinger and I’m thinking about possibly getting some lowering springs put in, but not 100% in on it yet. I have a couple questions I’m hoping some of you who have had the car longer can help out with.

1. I have heard some horror stories that lowering springs will affect the stock shocks of the car and cause some serious damage. Wondering if there is any truth to that?
2. I’m looking to close the wheel gap a bit and give a little more of a aggressive stance, but do not want to make my ride quality suffer or worry about if a slope is to steep,
3. With that in mind what lowering springs would work best and when getting them installed so I need to have the care realigned?

any input is greatly appreciated
I just had my 2019 put back to its original stance. I like the way it looked but after bottoming out a few times I decided that it wasn't worth it. I still have the "lowered" springs, which I have no use for. I DID have everything realigned after I went back to factory specs.

Which springs did you have and where were you bottoming out? I wouldn't think the Eibach Pro kit springs would be that drastic to bottom out.

And what is meant by bottom out? Scraping over things isn’t bottoming out. I’ve yet to bottom out my car where the shocks reach maximum travel.

I don’t remember which springs I had but I didn’t assume that the car had been lowered when I first started driving it. It wasn’t extreme but it was low enough that there were dents along the bottom of the strip underneath the doors. They were there before I bought the car. It had less than 6,000 miles on it & I was excited to find a GT with such low mileage. I didn’t realize until after I started driving it that it had several modifications, most of which I like. But besides the dents along the bottom of the side, it partially tore the plastic panel from under the engine compartment, cracked the left front corner of my front clip underneath the grill & broke some of the tabs that hold the grill in place! It was also wearing the tires unevenly. So for me, the lowered stance just wasn’t worth it. I’m not a professional mechanic, so if the car is hitting or dragging the ground when I’m running errands & driving in normal situations, damaging the car, it’s more or less “bottoming out” as far as I’m concerned.

That helps thanks. Those dents under the doors are not from bottoming out. That’s from the dealership not using spacers when lifting the car and pinching the side skirts on the lift arms.

I’m in Calgary, AB. I’m trying to decide the same thing as you are OP. Getting mixed stories as to whether or not warranty is void no matter who installs or if Kia dealer does it. I agree that considering all those accessories can be added from Kia directly then it shouldn’t void warranty in any way. Latest guy I spoke to says that if they supply and install then no warranty issues. They are offering me a pretty great price for supply and install. He did mention that they have done one Stinger at their dealer and the guy was unhappy with the ride and there was some rubbing. I am using the stock rubber though and just a slightly more aggressive offset with my rims. Who knows that the other guys setup was like.

I daily drive all year round and want it to look more aggressive now that I have gone to aftermarket wheels but don’t want to regret my decision. I lowered a TLX 4 cylinder with all wheel steering a few years ago and that ended up lower than quoted and had a grinding sound. Never did figure out the reason before I sold the car. Some said it was incorrect install, some say it was because of the 4 wheel steering but they were H&R Springs so I would hope they would be decent quality. I wasn’t too happy about it regardless. Just trying to avoid paying the money to do it then paying to put it all back lol.

I've been lowered for over 3 years i wouldn't do it again with hind site.

- rear camber issues.
- pulls to the left permanently (LHD)
- Rear shocks shot already.
- rougher ride on non smooth roads
- uneven tyre wear.

I'd close the wheel gap by putting on 20" wheels again if i had the choice again.

If you did that without maintaining the original tire diameter, your speedometer will read lower since the new wheel/tire is taller.
