Long loud alarm when you exit the car while it’s still running

It almost makes me want to sell the car. Please someone help me disable this. When I close the car door (any door) with the key fob in my pocket while the car is running I get a very loud, long beep/alarm noise. It drives me absolutely nuts. Does anyone know how to disable this?

You mean that continuous tone? It lasts maybe five seconds. And it isn't particularly loud. I doubt that anyone beyond my driveway could hear it.

It can not be disabled.

Every car with a wireless key fob does it. At least, every one I've owned or rented.

It’s on cars as a warning to prevent somebody from pulling away and leaving the fob behind. Just leave it on the dash until you get back in the car. I know someone who did pull away in a running car that didn’t have that warning and realized the fob wasn’t in her pocket upon arrival. RUT RO! !

In some countries it is illegal to leave a car with the engine running unattended.

My Mercedes makes a chiming sound when you open the door while running but the noise is from inside the car not outside.

Disconnect the buzzer .. it’s located in the left front fender behind the side air vent
You’ll find a plug there just disconnect it the all buzzing sound while locking or unlocking and engine warning sound will be gone

My evo did this as well, something you just get used to eventually. I do wish we had the capability to lock it while its on though for warming up on cold mornings.

Its a reminder that the car is running. Its a safety feature.

Reason for it like everyone else said its a Warning the car is still on to prevent gas waste, and with some state and countries making it illegal to ideal your car its on most Push Button Starts. If you are trying to leave it on to warm up the interior though, I would say look into a remote start option. Kia offers one, but can't suggest a third party one that will keep they Power Train Warranty. Remote start would be the safe way to keep the engine on with out an alarm going off, much better then tossing the keys in it to avoid the alarm.
