JB4 Vs Lap3 ProTuner - Any opinions?

I normally favor the JB4 but have to admit this is super impressive.
Stinger just crushed the stock turbo record and made 490whp/574wtq on e30 without WMI
He did say it’s a custom e30 “kill mode” map but nevertheless these results are significantly higher than anything I’ve seen for a stock turbo Stinger without WMI.

Any ideas on how the lap3V2 is making ~50whp/50wtq more than best dyno results from JB4 Stingers?

Both are just tuning systems with similar tuning potential. I've seen plenty of 430whp Lap3V2 dynos too. This specific one could just be a higher reading dyno or someone cranking the settings super aggressive without regard to engine longevity.

We've hit ~470whp through the factory exhaust and cats so ~490whp for a glory run on a more modified car seems plausible. Some day we'll modify our exhaust and see what sort of glory numbers can be hit.

Both systems run similar bests of 11.5x @ 120mph at the track which is a better measure of real world performance.

JB4 loyal here!! Both may be great products but the support I've received from Terry and team on not just the JB4 but the BOV(Tial), intakes, and my occasional email that is just a random question that I'm sure he does not have time for lol! I can't speak for the other guys but if there support is half of Terry's then you can't lose!

JB4 loyal here! The support is amazing, with all their products and I have several!... Not to mention the random emails I've sent to Terry that I am sure he does not have time for lol! Honestly, I can't speak for the other guys but if they have half the support that Terry's team does you can't go wrong! Seriously, the support is second to none:)

Never used Lap3 but I'm a fan of my JB4. It's simple to use, can switch maps on the fly and the customer service from Terry is very impressive.
 
I've been testing Jb4 and Lap3pro v2 on many cars. Jb4 is a very good device, it's like iPhone with complete eco system, but you cannot tune it like Android. You have to rely 100% on Terry support, which is good, but not when you live in time zone with 10 hours difference. Because of this difference, I had to take client's car several times the Dyno.

Big advantage of Lap3 is that I have their tuning software (not sure, if they give it to all clients) and I can tune customer cars like I want, not like Terry sees it.

Another advantage of lap3 is that I can remove catalysts and kill all errors in the ECU.

If I was a Stinger owner, not a tuner, for most basic needs JB4 is excellent. If you want to do not basic things, like catalyst removal, custom tune and etc, then I would choose Lap3.

Why can't you do that with JB4? It's passive delete on WMI page, enabled outside the USA.

As for the interface everything one would need is there. Some aspects we've simplified in to 2d tables but the easy to use tuning interface is a big strength of the JB4. :)

I wish I knew that. I looked in the app, there is an option passive delete. How to I input cels, which I need to kill ? Because when we tuned that wmi car, I had to flash ecu to kill all cels.

Only passive faults can be suppressed (e.g. real faults will continue to show a light) so it depends what the CEL actually is. We preprogrammed in the usual ones. If you're getting one that isn't working let me know and we can always add it to the firmware. Passive delete is a setting on the WMI page.

For those interested one of our JB4 software engineers took the time to document the unethical behavior of Pross / Lap3 ripping off the JB4 app. He found a few more interesting things embedded in their app code also we'll need to confirm before putting on record. We've been doing this a long time and expect newer companies to look for "inspiration" in our products but this cut and paste copy job on our app is really shameless. Donnie didn't even show everything in the video.

Was also interesting to see their app lacks boost by gear, E85 integration, and a lot of the other advanced features the JB4 has. And fortunately we have a new JB4 app revision in the works to ensure the copy cats have plenty of busy work to do.

Wow. I think we all knew how much lap3 has copied the JB4 over the years but they didn’t even try to hide it when replicating the app. It’s so blatantly obvious it’s either extremely lazy, amateur programmers, or done deliberately and didn’t think about any repercussions. I hope you have patented your hardware &/or software so the stealing of your product can no longer happen. I was advised that if you send this evidence to Google & Apple they will remove and blacklist the app copy until they can prove otherwise.

And I’d ask what goodies the new version might have but bet they’d try to copy that too.:rolleyes:If possible a PM or link to new features you’ve made public would be greatly appreciated.

How could I set the region to Canada so I could use the passive delete feature? Just did my primary downpipes and need the cel gone! Lol
 
If you guys wanna have a good laugh, you can install the Lap3 app. It's called PROSS BT on Google play. It will ask for a PIN number when you first launch the app, and if you don't enter it or enter an incorrect one it closes the app, but if you click somewhere else on the screen for some reason (bug???) it will let you through. I installed the app and looked at all the menus. It is even more similar than Terry's video shows. :D

New to the stinger as of 2 weeks ago got out of a really badass mustang after driving the stinger I bought my wife I loved it so bought me 1 had brought her the Kn typhoon intakes well I Jacked them and installed on my car do you feel I would gain enough power to warrant switching to the bms intakes and given her back the typhoons or get my front mount and then swap her later
 
I prefer our intake design but if you already have another brand the differences are not going to justify the expense of switching IMHO. Switching out a tune for the JB4 is another story all together though!

I thought I had ordered the jb4 when I ordered my plug kit and pedal programmer and aparently I didnt add it to cart so its getting ordered friday lol
