JB4 Vs Lap3 ProTuner - Any opinions?

I thought I had ordered the jb4 when I ordered my plug kit and pedal programmer and aparently I didnt add it to cart so its getting ordered friday lol
Hey, just fyi, order the fuel wire quick connects from Terry, it's an add on purchase but worth it cus you don't have to tap into OEM fuel wires:)
Congrats, I've had mine 15 months and love as much as day one

Already got them, nice! Also the Bluetooth app is $27, not included as it is not a bms product:) JB4 is a great option, Terry is awesome! Enjoy bluetooth app you mean the jb4 app or is this a different app

Now that the JB4 is on V12-V13 firmware, has anybody tested it for performance lately? I would love to see if there is any difference on the dynos with the improved sample rates and boost-by-gear function.

Also would love to see the Tork back-end flash with JB4 results in the 1/4 mile.

New to the forum. Considering a Stinger/G70 in the future. I come from 15yrs in the DSM world. And reading through a lot of these threads, I keep wondering why people are so hung up on dyno #'s (which can all be manipulated and don't necessarily translate into real world results) instead of trap speeds. Dyno #'s provide good info, but are not the be all end all. Trap speeds will give you a lot more valuable, practical info IMO.

Welcome to the forum. I completely agree with you, trap speeds or 60-130 times tell more about a car than some dyno number. (I don't mention 1/4mile because it involves too many factors including driver skills)

New to this forum. Is the JB4 App android compatible ?

Some say the race chip is not a good product ?
I don't plan to do any mods on my car.
I now only have drop in K & N air filters in oem boxes and 2 JA snorkel air scoops, which seem to have shortend my 1/4 mile times by 0.25 secs.. I believe.
I don't mind to change spark plugs soon to a better model, but other than that I'll not do anything else, except for adding a tuner.. and running 91 octane daily and 93-94 on drag strip days.

I don't know how the maps work. I believe my car can never run past map 0-2 maybe 3 ? as higher maps are only for mods, other fuel sources, etc etc..

So, do I need just a simple Racechip with 5 maps or ? ? Do I need the app ? or is the Racechip S no app., o.k. I just go under the hood and flip button to diff. setting ? or does the app do more than allow you to switch from the cockpit ?
Going to GTS model, and possible gain of 133 lb.ft torque must be only for fully mod'd cars ?

And is mapping similar across these main brands ? How do they work
If I'm on my set up with 91 octaine, what would be my mapping and how does it work ?
Can I choose map 1 and 2 on 91 ? how about on 94 octane ?
Or do they work where, if using map 2, you can only select that if running 93-94 octane ?
You can't select map 3 if don't have this or that mod ?

I really don't understand the details and variable yet, so any really detailed response, is appreciated.
Are they all the same generally ?

I don't want to spend $800 plus for a tuner, if my set up only needs a less costly model

and BMS only shows the JB4 as an option for the Stinger, even though they have other models.
And Racechip shows the S and GS and GTS are all options for their product for the Stinger.

And will my stock ECU pick up/learn on the air density change with my scoops and k & N filters and make adjustments to run accordingly ? I assume so, since it seems that I am getting STEADY better 1/4 mile times since installed.

Is the Racechip safe to not leave a footprint for dealer to know If I am using one or not ?

Kia USA might ask the dealership for more information and data before approving the warranty work. If it gets that far with KIA USA asking questions then you might be in trouble because that means they want to know why their prized possession blew up.If the dealership is good at "selling it" you will be in better shape. I can tell you my dealership will likely not be one of those dealerships that fight for me.

Yah, a bit concerned about that. I do not plan to mod. the car and only use map 1-2.
so hopefully, it should be on the safe side to not over work it hard on the engine or tranny ?
if only map 1-2 on almost stock car is really risking serious issues ?
Anyone have any with their cars yet ?

I used map 2 for two years before taking it off. worked perfectly fine but as a precaution always use tier 1 93 octane from a brand gas station. I only took it off because I dont want to deal with the maintenance and i no longer feel the need to compete with other cars on the road.

I agree. i don't want to drive aggressive on the streets, but for drag strip time fun. lap is too $$
will go with jb4, but still not rushing into it.. it's still over $800 Cdn. and more $$ at the pumps if I use it a lot.. the car on it's own in Sport mode, is MORE then fun enough, really !

Thinking about getting this for my G70. Power is nice but mostly curious about how that power is delivered - are you able to comment at all? Does it driver better than stock?

It's easy to get buried in the numbers but at the end of the day, the two systems offer similar control, so can produce similar results if equally programmed.

In terms of octane used sometimes it's 91, sometimes it's E85 mix, sometimes it's 91 + a can of Lucas octane booster to make 93. I try to document it with the dyno thread on n54tech so unless our web guy added it to the site, I'd have to search for it myself. But keep in mind whatever we make on 93 octane we could probably make on 91, I just might not like how the timing curve looks. Tuning is very subjective. So we try to put forth realistic suggestions for how we'd suggest customers run the maps.
What map would you typically start out on running 93 with simple bolt on parts?

Start with map 2. Take some logs (set auto logging at 80% throttle in the jb4 app) from like 30MPH to 80MPH (safely on a deserted flat road of course) and post the logs. The main thing you are looking for are the ign2 through ign6 numbers while under boost (these are the timing corrections). If you get less than 3, you are doing pretty good. If they are all close to 0, try the next map and do the same.
If you see high numbers, then it could be fuel, plugs or coils.
