How to permanently turn off the Auto Start/Stop button

Kia really should of made this a ''driver if needed'' switch. I'll just keep pressing it down when it stalls at the first light which happens at least once a week.

Blame Obama and/or the EU regulators. Also your battery will now cost 400 instead of 69

Help me figure this out I picked my car up last Sunday. Until yesterday the engine never shut off by itself. I was thinking great this car is like my previous mini cooper when the auto stop is off it just stays off, but no yesterday morning on the way to work the engine shut off at a stop light and ever since I have to manually hit the button every time I get into the car. Not that big of a deal but I don't understand why from Sunday to Thursday somehow that was disabled?

Different driving conditions.

Different driving conditions.

No I drove the same route to and from work Mon-Wed the car never shut off, Thursday morning it started doing it. Sucks when you think about it no benefit to you or me we'll never save enough gas to justify a $400 battery every 3-5 years. I also wouldn't be surprised if you leave it on if you won't be putting a 1,000 starter in the car in 5 years.

I think the auto off is guided by engine temp, if cold enough it will not operate....just a hunch....after installing the cai it rarely works, but I press the off cycle anyways out of habit.

You know what it was I must have been babying the car not pushing the brake too hard at stop lights. Because I realized that I can keep the auto off from activating with a light touch on the brake. It actually is fine because I know the lights on my usual routes and if it's a long one I let the car shut off. Not sure if light touch on the brake is a feature or not but it works for me

Yes, it is a brilliant design...that KIA decided not to document in the car's user manual!

I think if the electrical tape solution works long term, I would save the UDS67 and put that towards something else :)

Anybody out there figure out yet how to bypass stop and go feature. Without having to push button every time you drive car.

but why don't they remember i don't want the idle-stop-go thing at start up...

Because if they did, the car would need to be tested with it disabled, and their fuel efficiency rating would suffer, and that impacts in all sorts of ways for them as a manufacturer and seller of cars.

Could you clarify your question? You are posting in a thread where the first post does exactly what you are asking, and it does not cost a thing. Are you looking for another method? If so there is this for $67. These are the only methods that I know of.

That post was merged into this thread I believe.

You could TOTALLY print a stylish & elegant, easily removable plug to jam that button without taking anything apart. No sweat at 0.1mm increments, and make sure it's ABS so it holds up to the summer heat.

This. If I'm in for a long stop-and-go session, and am in the middle of a pack of cars, I don't mind the engine cutting out and saving a bit of gas / emissions. It only bothers me if I'm first at a light and know the next guy's gonna try to race ahead and cut me off, or something.. I actually toggle it off/on/off/on several times during a drive, depending on conditions..

The only time it really bothers me is when I stop in my garage and the engine cuts off. Then starts back up when I put it in park. It's definitely wasting gas in that scenario

It's been mentioned several times before, but the solution is simple - just don't put it in park. When the car comes to a halt and the engine stops, push the engine 'off' button. The car's computer will automatically shift the transmission into park and shut down, without restarting the engine.

I have a GT1 and a GT2. That would work for one but not the other
