How to install CK71 DRL

Am I the only one confused by this? Why colors, can we just use pin counts. The colors on my GT base are different from the driver side to the passenger side. Are the pin outs the same for GT/GT1 and GT2? If so, does anyone know what that is? I am assuming that mine should be the same on both sides, for row 1 pin 3, row 2 pin 4 and row 3 pin 2.

According to the PDF I should have 2 orange on the top row. I do on the passenger side, but the driver side I have a green white orange color setup like the GT2. Anyone on here with a base GT confirm that I in fact do not have that rare one off car? My color is ceramic silver, which was supposed to be offered in a GT2 only.

I have a request into ck71 but figured I'd reach out here if someone else has run into this.

OK noob question... How do you tap these wires?

Also, anybody have pictures of where they tied the drive box to?\

edit: just watched the 2.0 ck71 install and I see how he used the T-tap connector. That said, my order didn't come with one...

I did a CK71 install today and I found it super easy to do without removing the bumper.

I was already taking the wheels off to do brake pads (removing the junk stock pads) and a tire rotation, so while the wheels were off I popped off the handful of plastic rivets that hold the front of the wheel arch liner on, pulled it back, and reached in to remove the brake duct and install the CK71s.

Personally, I think it might be even easier than removing the bumper, since I didn't need to lay out a blanket to set the bumper on or be concerned about scratching anything, and could do one side at a time.

No special tools were needed.

They’re a little pricy, but does anyone think these would be of value for this install. I personally don’t like using wire taps. @robz32

I just ordered a set of these for the CK71's that have been sitting in a box for a very long time... I think the only downside I can think of here is that you are stuck (unless you want to change the wiring of this adapter) with using the DRL lights with the CK71's. I think I am okay with that, it just means that they will be on all the time (as are the DRL's) and not jsut when the parking lights are on. I will update once I finally get around to doing all this.

Did you end up installing those harnesses? Curious to know what the wiring connections are for these with the CK71's.

They are coming this week. I will try to get it done in the next few weeks.

Make any progress with these yet? The harnesses from Shark arrived this week. Now I have to wait 4-6 weeks for the DRL's lol.

The harnesses now have pigtail wires and connectors that connect to some sort of LED Module. I was thinking about cutting off the wires with the Connectors that run from the Module and solder them to the the DRL wires so they connect to opposite pigtail wire connectors on the harness. That way I won't even have to mess with the OEM wiring whatsoever. Just plug/unplug and you're done.

So how would this work exactly? I just mangled up the oem wire harness, salvage title anyways so dont bother me a bit lol. But I do see the appeal of keeping everything untouched.

That’s exactly what I plan on doing. I have just been too busy to get anywhere near this project. I wish I could get it done faster.

I just installed everything last night. I snipped off the Shark module and soldered the weather pack connectors to the CK71 harness.

The Shark harness has 4 plugs. I asked Sam what the extra Blue wire was for. He explained it’s an extra connection since depending on your model/year Stinger, your parking light will be powered by either/or the Blue or Red wire. I ended up using the Blue.

I was expecting the CKs to illuminate with the DRLs, but the white light only illuminates when the headlights are on. Luckily I have all the pin connector tools for these plugs and will sit down sometime soon and figure out what needs to be changed.

I’ll send my findings to Sam at Shark and suggest he offer a harness without the module since the CK71 is by far the most popular choice for aux lighting (at least in the US) and is already equipped. He charges $30 for his module by itself, so that would make the harness a lot more affordable.

what year and package do you have? I was planning on doing a test with these to make sure I am getting it the way I want it. (I have a 22 GT2 if that matters)
This is what I have in my notes, but I have not confirmed any of this at this point:
Looks like on GT2, power is to blue, Ground is to black, and yellow (turn) is to yellow.

I have ‘19 GTS. I’m guessing neither the red or blue are spliced to the DRL, just parking light function. Should be a simple fix once I take the time to figure it out.

In your case, try one, if it doesn’t work switch to the other.

The turn signals work as expected.

That's my plan. I believe they are different colors for LED vs. non LED headlights. Hopefully I can test fit the harness without remove the bumper at all. At least that's my plan... I haven't even had time to go look at it and see if that is feasible or not.

I just pulled the air boxes to access the harnesses.

I installed the lights through the fender liners with the car on a lift. Wasn’t hard. I’ve had the bumper off before and it’s fairly simple, but avoid the wear and tear when possible.

Appreciate the info. My plan at this point is to install the Shark Harnesses and since the wires are all red, I'd follow the CK71 wiring instructions and trace the appropriate factory coloured wires across to the Shark Harness. If the Pig Tails are not on the corresponding wires I will cut them off and relocate them to the wires that line up with the correct factory colours. I was assuming from the start the pig tails would be on the wrong wires for straight plug and play for the CK71's. My main purpose of getting these harnesses was to avoid cutting or piercing the factory wiring.

The 2022 has a different wiring config and the CK71 site states to contact them for details.

Oh no! I’m gonna be super pissed if I spent All that money and still have to splice everything. I guess it will be into the new in between harness so it will not be a total catastrophe but still.

At this point you can just contact findpigtails.com and they could probably make the custom connectors for you.

Do you know which wire is connected to the DRLs in the main headlamp? I need to piggyback off that wire for something
