high performance ignition coil

Hey everyone- quick question. Is it worth it to upgrade to the new version coils if the old version ones you have seem to have no issues?
I would not unless maybe I was already in there changing spark plugs.

It is funny you say that.. I am just about to do the plugs as well. I just couldn’t decide if spending the $ on the coils is worth it.

I agree with this guy, just leave them alone:

No, bcuz sooner or later their all going to die. I recommend when one goes, you replace all 6 at the same time. But if you no issues, leave well enough alone

Do they make high performance ignition coil for the 3.3 and if so would you change all of them at the same time
I recall some folks using Nissan GT-R coils with an adaptor plug. I forgot who was selling those a couple years ago..

Rockauto.com has the passenger side ignition Coil in clearance. I just ordered 3 of them in case I need them later.

At that price, might as well order a 6 pack. Definitely looks like the old style, and I don't know what the specific issue was with those (likelihood of constant problems vs. just shorter expected life), but the fact that you can get a whole set for less than a single new one is tempting.

Driver side and passager side has different parts number. I am waiting for the driver side to be on clearance so that i can get a full set.

Oof, that one on the left is gonna be fun getting out of #4 cylinder.
Just replaced plugs on my 21 G70 with the newer boot, was simple for all the plugs. The one under the manifold, just turn it 180 degrees once you pull it up a bit and it easily bends out the front. just do the reverse to put it back in and easy-peasy!

When I ordered 3 LH and 3 RH of the updated coils from Rock Auto, I received 4 RH and 2 LH coils. I just ended up using the 4th at the front cylinder, since it had the most clearance. Looking at it again just now, you can use a RH coil on all 6.

Is there a way to tell the difference between the old and new part? I see a lot of options but I don't see anything in descriptions confirming they're the new design. Has the Kia part number changed? Thanks.

Check the pic in the second post of this thread. The upgraded coil is on the left. Pretty sure by now you wouldn’t get the old style. Like if you ordered off rock Auto. I had no way to guarantee I was getting the updated coils. Just had to rely on the pic that Rock Auto shows. And made sure I ordered Mando coils
