Fuel Tank is Too Small

I got 385 out of a complete fill, a top off if you will of pure gasoline, no winter mix, 16.5 is what I think I put in with 11 miles left to empty. I drive mainly highway on my commute and am getting up to 330 - 350 out of a tank. Now on my Optima Hybrid, I have gotten over 900 miles on a tank and have heard of folks getting 1k, again a complete fill, meaning 20 gallons in one listed to hold 15.9. Now if they could fit a hybrid system to this car, as a middle option, I would go for one.

So has anybody actually driven long range in Eco mode? I’m curious what the actual range is. Cruising on the highway in Eco nets me about 28-30MPG

That puts max range at 445-477 miles. Assuming you run the tank dry. Seems like a pretty solid number considering city driving nets me about 250-300

I’m consistently getting 27MPG. I almost always drive in ECO mode. All highway driving with a mix of stop and go during morning commute. 27 is an okay MPG considering the HP and size of car. I wouldn’t trade the HP on tap for a car with more MPG but less HP (like an Accord, Camary or the like).

I almost never take my car out of comfort mode and I'm currently averaging 17 mpg. I firmly believe it's as low as it is because of winter blends in fuel. This summer I got around 20 mpg average.

We Canucks are Liters per 100km which I convert to US Gallons. Convert Miles per Gallon to Liters per 100 Kilometers conversion

Either this year's winter blend is way worst than last year's or I have a hole in my fuel tank. Last winter I got over 300 miles per tank.

No way I should be getting 40 miles per 1/4 tank of regular driving.

I've found that every trip I take to Phoenix (about 350 round trip), I use Comfort and always end up back home around 28-32MPG. I'd be curious about using Eco, but that loss of power sounds awful.

Same results. Eco mode, and smart cruise I could easily see 600+ miles out of a tank.

That's pretty close to what I got (about 8.6 l/100 KM, or a little over 27 mpUSg) on a round trip from Calgary to north of Edmonton and back, with some sight seeing diversions and city driving included. Most was done on Eco mode, with some sport mode sections included when the road beckoned ...

Majority of the driving was on primary and secondary highways at or about 120 KM/hr, and total KM for the trip was over 1000 km. Pretty happy with the cost/performance ratio.

Rental I just had in the UK for two weeks only had a 10 (US) gallon/40 liter tank. I put over 500 miles before needing to fuel up.

Of course, it was no 3.3TT!!

uuhhh… You were getting 50+ US miles for every US gallon??? The 4 cyl is rated at 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway in the US. I think you were driving downhill with a tail wind... LOL The mpg ratings in the UK are different from the mpg ratings in the US and anytime similar vehicles are tested, the UK mpg numbers are always A LOT higher than the US numbers so maybe this had something to do with it?

Sorry, my rental wasn't a Stinger, it was a Peugeot 3008. Just shared numbers to show a smaller tank shouldn't mean reduced range, I agree the Stinger could be bigger.

I mostly drive highway where the drive is consistent at a set speed. Eco works for me just fine..sure I give up slightly less horsepower, but the trade off is better fuel economy. The smart mode just doesn’t make sense to me. Should I see a need to keep up with someone or hookup off the line, I’ll just switch to sport mode.

What gas are you using? Run from it lol. I was actually suprised. Since removing my piggyback (and im assuming winterized gas additives) my tank has gone from 299 on full to 354 on full. I think when i first got the car i maxed out around 320s. I use Shell V Nitro. It could be placebo but I feel like all other gas in inferior lol. I could be way off base on that.

I use ExxonMobil. I used them this summer as well. I'm guessing it's just winter fuel since I usually see worse mileage between November and February.

That's an 1/8th of a tank, not a quarter showing; so 368 range. What are you complaining about?
