Flickering driver door switch lights and ambient lighting issue

Same here with exact same symptoms and without any solutions. I’ve taken video of the door lights flickering but not sure the dealership would address unless there was a recall. Now I have a parking sensor error message. Two electrical issues now. Oof

No worries! Funny enough, I haven't had the issue arise since my post. I'll update the thread if it arises and I take it to the dealer as well.
of course a day after me posting this, it happens again. I shoulda kept my mouth shut! lol

Just out of curiosity, do you have anything plugged into your cigarette lighter or usb? Both mine are being used. I plan to unplug one at a time when it happens to me again next (process of elimination). Wondering if something is drawing too much power. I’ll be interested to see if anyone has nothing connected to accessory and still having the same issue.

Nothing plugged in at all. Zero mods. It's so tough to try and figure this out given how intermitted it is and the time span between the occurrences.

When it first happened the car was also super dirty and salty from a spat of heavy snow, warm weather and then more snow within a 2-3 day period. The rear sensors were pretty dirty so I gave them a good wipe that night. The issue did not return the next day and was fine up until yesterday. I thought maybe it was related to that, but the car is pretty clean now with nothing on the sensors, so I've eliminated that as being a potential cause., but frankly, I never thought it was the cause given the times the car has been dirty and full of slush during the winter.

Haven't had the issue arise today, but I think I'm going to go with a battery disconnect for about 30-60 minutes in the event some sorta reset may help. Grasping at straws at this point.

I've had my battery die on me during the winter but I don't think it was to a point where my settings reset, like a true battery disconnect. I'd be interested to see if this works for you.

My best guess is due to the high demand/chip shortage, Kia went to a 3rd party for their Power Window Switch module starting with 2022 models. There's someone who replied back to this thread with a 22' Forte GT with the same issue. I hope more people pipe up and also share their experience and ask their friends who have newer 22' Stingers (or Telluride/Forte/etc) if they've experienced anything like this. With enough voices, then maybe something can be done about it.

Hi everyone, same issue here with my 2022 Stinger Elite in Canada, it’s equal to Stinger GT2 in US, flicking door module and back up sensors disconnect and connect and side mirror up and down in reverse, I noticed my head up display’s position resets to bottom when this happens, it happens once in a while, went to Kia, they were very accommodating and wanted to change the door module but after I discovered it’s happening along with other issues as explained above they decided to wait and dig into it more, I am guessing there is a chance it might be a software issue. This is the video of it ,car is in reverse here.

What’s interesting is how many of you have issues with your mirrors and sensors. I only had issues with my ambient lighting. However, we ALL have the issue with our driver door switches flashing. I haven’t traced the wiring schematic to see where this goes but I imagine it terminates at one of the IBUs which then integrates into the BCM.

When I first posted I mentioned I briefly had a BCM error. Unfortunately, my dealer didn’t have a spare Stinger BCM laying around. Their proposal was to swap one in from another Stinger and see if I get the issue, but, as we’ve all seen with this issue it’s so sporadic, spread out in time & it’s not user repeatable. For example, I haven’t had any issues (knock on wood) since this past March. So I’m going on almost 9 months without this issue showing itself again.

Considering the “vehicle system unstable” message I get, I’m inclined to think this is related to one or a combination of any of the IBUs or possibly the BCM itself. Of course, it could also be software or a combination of hardware and software. I’m concerned that we need this problem to show itself in Tellurides and Souls at a large scale before Kia can fix this.

Hi there:
Is there a way to open a case nationally for this issue, I am guessing what if there is a safety issue there, like if this malfunctioning has wider effects in other areas of cars functions and during driving it causes safety hazards, just throwing these thoughts here but there is a possibility right? And we had so many video to prove it.

We have NHTSA in the states, not sure what you all have up in Canada. I never thought of this so I’m going to submit a case with a link to this thread.

And you’re right, it’s a safety issue. Driving at night with door interior lights flickering and, in my case and others, all interior lights flicking off then back on in a half second is incredibly disorienting.

Hey, I started to have this issue on my gt2. It happened before, i got the car in april 2023 and it happened once every so months, before I even put any mods in the car or any type of electrical mods like lights camera etc etc. started happening to me again this week, 2 consecutive days. Flickering on the door switch, ambient lighting going on and off or being less bright, mirrors going down and up, parking sensor chime on and off. Any resolution?

None! My car has been at the kia dealer since 2/1 with electrical issues that they can’t figure out.

Jesus man, 3+ months?! Is the electrical issue something else or related to the problems in this thread?

Who friggin knows at this point. It was a thermostat issue, then a turbo issue. I’m 5 days from lemon law status. Definitely an electrical issue. I just don’t know if it’s all related. I had a front bumper sensor go out after a car wash too.

I haven’t had any issues since I last posted about 14 months ago. Dealer hasn’t worked on it either.

I thought you said the flickering came back like 8-9 months after the door module was switched?

The flickering came back in February of '23 but it only did it a couple of times. Hasn't happened since then.

Yeah, I ordered the part and installed it yesterday. Got sick of the flickering it was every other day last week lol. Lets see if it hopefully is gone for good now.

Welp after about a week of so of changing the module, it started to flicker again today

I got my car back on 5/25. They replaced many different harnesses and were finally able to get the engine light to go away. No flickering lights yet but I’ll keep y’all posted. Mind you the engine light was a turbo related code. But still electrical. I documented the flickering as well with kia corporate. Also, my seat convenience stopped working and kia reset the module and it’s working again. Electrical!
