yes... another f’n exhaust thread.

But I don’t care about (nor want any) discussions about drone, cost, tone, smell, whatever.

Just rank what’s out there from loudest to quietest.

This list is NOT in any order other than I believe Borla is the loudest so far.

Simply reorder as seen fit by those who’ve experienced these (and feel free to add to the list).

@NICK_KHAR @TuscaniCustoms @K8 Stinger Store, and any other vendors please chime in as well.

Also, this is with stock downpipes (primary cats).

10 Borla

Where do you rate the MBRP cat-back exhaust?

View attachment 25240 borla catback
10 minute ride highway - home..
Idle about 50db, avg in town 60 db, avg hwy 70ish cruising, max 82..
Assuming phone is calibrated, the phone was on armrest

Wow, that *is* loud. I measured my car stock and it was 61db at highway speeds, now it's up to 66db with a high of 80db with my xforce exhaust. I tried to start a thread a long time ago where people would use the sound meter app to measure their exhaust but it didn't stick.

Sound Meter - Measure your car noise (exhaust, etc)

with anyone’s experience with any of these exhausts, who gets pops and gurgles with their exhaust? with what downpipes? i’m also trying to get the best performance and sound, what’s the best suggestion so i can get pops and tons of hp gains?

I get a lot of gurgles and some pops with my Tubi Style when I have the valves open.

SSR looks like it has a pre-order for one with a full bypass, I'm going to guess that this is a gurgleable exhaust that won't rake you over the coals like Tubi.

KIA STINGER GT 3.3TT EVC AXLE BACK EXHAUST (VALVED) (2018+)

Don't quite understand the 300% price difference between Tubi Style we exhausts and everything else.

I get wonderful pops and gurgles with just a Borla exhaust and Injen intakes. When I launch I get a loud "fart" when it shifts from first to second gear; sounds just like the Audi RS 5 Sportback I drove

Do you get any drone with this setup? And if you do, explain how loud/annoying it is, at what RPM range, if you can still have a conversation or if it gives you a headache driving long distances, please! :)

JP's_Stinger, The Borla does have a slight drone during low RPM cruising around 2000; it won't do it in Sport mode because RPM is usually above that. It is not so loud to interfere with conversation or be annoying although this is subjective. I have about 7000 miles with this setup and the exhaust note seems to have become lower and crackles and pops more when lifting after accelerating and at low RPM (<2000) while coasting:D I bought my Borla from someone on the forum not too far from me; he had less than 500 miles on it and it was too loud for him, interestingly he asked me to send videos driving and now says it sounds good. I initially thought about putting Dynamat in the battery box but it really doesn't bother me; I even drive a lot of the time with the back seats down to hear the exhaust better inside the car. I have the active engine noise turned off because when on it seemed to make the drone worse. I commute 45 miles each way to work on the freeway and it doesn't bother me; I usually have the rear seats up for this; seats down on the freeway gets droney in Comfort and Eco modes. I had a Borla exhaust on a 2005 Miata that really made the car come alive and no drone whatsoever. I think the design of the underbody at the rear of the Stinger combined with big metal non lined battery box and hatchback design cause the drone not the exhaust. Also the tips of the muffler are not attached to the exhaust tips on the body of the car so some of the sound reverberates back into the open area under the back of the car, up into the battery box and cabin. The OEM muffler has plates at the end that help prevent this by reflecting the sound rearward. I've read somewhere on here that someone removed this and used them with an aftermarket system and it helped.

I read a post where it says US stinger is louder than others.

I think that's debatable, here Down Under, some of us like loud exhausts that's why they made the factory Bimodal Sports Exhaust. If you pull out the Bimodal fuse it keeps the bevels open and the exhaust is loud in whatever mode you drive in. Iv'e just experimented doing it, the first few hours I wasn't sure I liked it as there was drone inside the cabin, I could feel the vibration under my seat and on the steering wheel so I plugged it back in.The other day I took it out again, getting use to it now, I don't know if it's just coincidence but noticed a couple of drivers putting their window up as I'm driving past ? too loud for them ;)
A lot of Stinger owners are getting the Bimodal, Iv'e heard the Ark on Ozstung's car, that was pretty loud.I was always tossing about the Borla but Iv'e never heard it in person.

Pull it out and live and enjoy the good vibrations . You'll hear the exhaust note all the way through the rev range. Enjoy "Sonic" unplugged:D

It is the controller that works the EVC it cost about half of the cost of the axle back to replace. It does a lot more than simply open and close the valves.
