Door Frame Ticking / Squeaking Elimination

Just don't use the grab handle and it will never pull out. Of course, you'll have to warn passengers (you could epoxy the passenger handle back into the holes, and then not pull on it going forward: I don't know if taking the door card apart is practical for a more secure DIY fastening of the grab handle, but I would look into that: and then the dealer can suck eggs: or, find one that raises your confidence enough to fix it under warranty).
My GF (who is pretty much the only one who uses the passenger side of the car knew about it, and it happened anyway. She was careful, but not as careful as me I guess.

You guys are talking about the small handle to unlatch the door or something else?
we are off topic right this second. There is an issue with the 22's where the didn't attach the door pull on the actual door correctly, and the plastic breaks and the whole thing comes apart. You have to replace the whole door panel to fix it which is obviously back ordered to forever, and a project I don't want the dealer even touching.

There isn't a careful way to use the grab handle when it's not secured to the door. :P

In fairness to her, she asked me to tie a string around it or something to remind her to use the lower one instead. I kept forgetting. Clearly this isn't a sustainable solution...

Could it be that Kia is starting to cheap out on some parts in order to try and get some of their huge investment on this project back? I went against my better judgement and getting a new first-year model on my 2018 Stinger and wasn't surprised at the slight issues (ticking noises, and parts not always being well adjusted like the hatch) but I guess waiting for an end of the production run for a particular model might not be a good idea either?

But then again, a friend of mine has a 2015 Lexus L250 on which both passenger and driver door latch handles inside broke (about a week apart), rendering getting out of the car impossible (he had to lower the window and open it from outside)! He had to use a pair of vise-grip pliers temporarily until he could get an expensive replacement part, and it was a pain to fix!

Ugh... This thread got me curious about the actual build date on mine. Called up service and was told 6/9/2021. Said the TSB applies to earlier vehicles and mine isn't part of that [yet]. We'll see.

Never had door panels break on me. Did have a hood latch striker plate crack in my camaro.

The current chip shortage mitigation actions is curious. What problems will result when ecu's are dealer installed rather than production line installed. The manufacturing process has now been altered and may lead to [un]foreseen complications.

The part in green is the 'cup'?
Yes. I always close my door with the "cup". I've touched the grab handle a handful of times in over three years. My wife also closes the passenger door with the armrest "cup". The leverage is over twice as good with the cup over the grab handle.

Agreed. It feels awkward to close using the grab handle.

I think it’s all of them. You will also have your door handles break too. That also seems to be all of the 22’s as well. Some people have seen them already broken in the showroom. They screwed up when they installed all of them, and it breaks the entire door panel when it breaks.
Seriously? This is a $55k car why the hell are the doors breaking? In less than 1k miles, I'm going from loving to hating this car.... Thought I did enough research.... maybe not.

Do you have to remove the seatbelt? This seems like an absurd task for a brand new $55k car.

Remove the seatbelt for the grab handle fix? I did not have to on my 2019 (doubt this changed for a 22), it was quick and easy though one of the clips broke holding the trim and fell inside the vehicle frame...

Not gonna bother ordering another one it's still being held in place enough haha

Yeah ok. I need a youtube video or something, I'm nervous tearing my brand new interior apart.

My philosophy about my Stinger is that anything that will break on it Kia will have to fix it under warranty. So far my beloved 2018 Stinger Limited has had a couple of failures, all of which were fixed under warranty. the lumbar adjustments of the driver seat stopped working (fixed by the dealer cleaning the electric air pump inside the seat), and a year later the right DBL (dynamic bending light) passenger side headlight failed (dealer replaced the whole unit with a new one). But so far that's it. I'm lucky to have an excellent service from my local Kia dealer so far.

On a car in this price range, I wouldn't venture as to try fixing things myself on it, even though I'm a mechanic by trade (not a car mechanic, an industrial mechanic). I paid for that warranty, so Kia must honor it.

Hmm, that's a good question, since it's not something broken...

Yeah that's what im thinking. It's super annoying and extremely audible. Honestly... i can't believe there isn't some kind of manufacturer fix. it's makes me irate thinking about how my much cheaper my 370z i traded in was, but never had a problem. My brand new gt2 has this issue and now i'm worried about my grip handle on the door breaking off smh.

As I wrote somewhere else in this thread, I had the occasional ticking noises too. But I got rid of them by installing a Borla CatBack exhaust system and as if by magic I don't hear the ticking anymore! ;)

I'm not trying to do all that and likely void my warranty should any real serious issues occur.
