• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Did you order a Stinger in October 2017? Bad news...

Red leather was going to delay my order by a couple of months on Deep Chroma Blue colour car. I opted for black leather and the procured a dealers stocked car.
At least it's not like ordering a Tesla Model 3! Are they even making 500 a month yet?! That company has had production and supply chain issues since the dawn of their existence. Horrible, and nothing is getting fixed. There, hopefully that makes you feel a wee bit better? ; )

My car is now been re ordered so I get a 2018 build date so it will arrive in 3 months, maybe May. Big difference in insurance between 2017 build 2018 compliance and 2018 build 2018 Compliance., As is the value. The one they were going to give me was built October 2017 MY18 and I said no. They didn’t argue so I’m happy even though I have to wait longer. Maybe they will iron some of the bugs by then.
In December after waiting 4 months the dealer said he couldnt give a date. Red nappa leather on a Dcb car would take longer and he was sorry my order hadnt been placed with Korea. Reason Kia Australia had to place orders for over 10 of each colour trim batch. My combination after 4 months had only reached 6 orders. I put a clause at the start : no car at Christmas then cancel. 6 days later i acquired a car from another dealers allocation in a dealer swap. Personally getting in early i wasnt going to do the extented wait thing. More than happy now.

Jeez you’re lucky I had to pay a $2000 deposit.

Try $3000!

Cost me $1000 deposit, but when i go in to my local dealership, they check on the computer, and it tells them if my car is being built or not, my Stinger looks like arriving March earliest.

I believe Deep Chroma Blue may have a longer wait than other colours, Red Nappa Leather with this colour i have heard takes longer to get than Black Nappa Leather interior.

I assume there is an uncharge for the Nappa and if so, anyone know what that is? If it's over $1k, I'd just take it to the local shop that does most aftermarket leather for the dealers here in town... And often you can get higher-end leather at or below what the dealer may be charging for this...

Ordered GT3.3 snow white pearl with red nappa end of November, was told start of Jan was looking at a 3-4 month wait but could take a November 2017 manufactured vehicle but with black nappa instead so snapped it up last Weds and did about 300ks down the coast and back, very happy so far, just got it back today from the detailers after applying tint and paint protection and its looking a treat, almost don't want to drive it anymore haha

Good choice and idea as they say a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. I had the same quandry a month ago.

Well to be honest I was thinking of pulling out at one stage due to the wait and holding on for the Chevy/HSV Camaro conversion but I really need a car so went with the Stinger. Would have preferred a 2018 manufacture date for resale but happy to have the car now for the summertime. Its a great drive and the detailers have done a cracking job, although they said the paint quality was really good to start with which is encouraging for Kia.

Still, taking a 2017 build means you will get less when you go to sell later. Even though dealers say compliance is all that matters, its build date that insurance companies base their prices on.
I was tempted to take a October 2017 build 2018 Compliance until I found this out so I’m now waiting a bit longer for delivery. If your happy that’s what’s important.:D

Yeah that's totally true but remember insurance value isn't the same as actual resale value, resale is basically what you can get someone to pay for it!

understand but insurance premiums change with build date

True, true, I was in two minds but at the end of the day I need a car and I've been wanting a Stinger for awhile so its good to have it here! Its worth the wait, I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get yours!

Same here, i was offered a 2017 build with 2018 compliance plate, but i made it clear im waiting for a 2018 build, but my dealership has not received any other Deep Chroma Blue Stinger for at least 2 months, even if they got a 2017 build in tomorrow, i do not want it, as hard as it is too continue waiting, it will be worth it.
Also , it is a personal preference of mine, there is nothing wrong with a 2017 build if your happy with it.
