Been texting a dealer for months, finally got a new 2019 GT2 price down to $38,985

OK - I just caught up on this thread and noticed your car has TAN LEATHER!!!! How the heck does that happen? Like someone mentioned earlier, it's not even a spec listed on their website. I would absolutely love to have the HiChroma red with tan interior. I would even pay full MSRP and special order one if necessary, but it's not even an option.

Oh, and congrats KGH! Beautiful color combo...

It happens sometimes.

Last year red on red and white with red wasn't offered officially but there were few on sale. I think Kia might have sent it by mistake as other markets get those colors.

They might be “Test Market” cars. I doubt they are truly “mistakes”. I think they are just one offs to gauge whether there is a market for them or not.

I have seen a few advertisements for “Test Market” cars before. I think that is what this one is.

Oh - interesting. I've never heard of either of these possibilities before (car combo from another market or test market).

I need to find someone at Kia and convince them to test market a red GT2 w/ tan leather in northern Virginia! :D

That combo is available in Europe I think.

Out here on the East Coast they are advertising some GT2 cars below $40k.

Our local dealership has 4 GT2s and about 13 Stingers all together. However, all but one of the cars has massive hail damage all over. It is a sad sight to see.

They piled 13 of them in a row at the furthest back corner of their lot and just left them there to deteriorate. They don’t wash them or anything. They just sit there waiting for some unsuspecting fool to buy one as-is.

Wow...that's a good deal but for a damaged vehicle not so good. I just need some ammo to go at the dealer with.

What dealer is this? I am seriously considering starting a negotiation with a dealer in northern Virginia (Koons in Woodbridge, VA) for a red GT2 and want to make sure it's not the same one. Although, I don't think this area has had any hail in the last 6 months... If you don't want to name the specific dealer, can you at least mention the general location/area/state?

I'm looking for $45K OTD, which seems like a good deal, but not on a hail damaged car!

Oklahoma and Texas.... 40k OTD is shown to be possible, and it ought to be what we should all aim for

Thanks for the reply. Wow, $40K OTD sounds like an amazing deal! You think I can get that for a GT2 AWD?

Oh, and my question about where was for the hail damage at the dealer on the east coast.

I’d expect 3k more for awd.

I was referring to 2 separate dealerships. One advertises RWD cars under $40k(Koons) because nobody on the Northern Seaboard wants RWD. The other has hail damaged cars and is local to me.

I don’t want to name the second dealership because I don’t think it will help anyone. Just remember to check your vehicles at an angle in the sun before you sign on the dotted line. Hail damage is obvious if you check for it. Not so obvious if you don’t check for it.

OK - gotcha - no problem. Will make sure to look out for this when/if I make a deal.

It turns out Koons Kia in Woodbridge, VA was a total bust. I think they are simply listing cars on Cars.com to entice people to call them. When I called and asked about the red one, the sales rep said they just sold it yesterday. Then, just to test them out, I called back later and asked about the blue and red GT2's they had listed on Cars.com and the guy said they just sold the red one this morning and the blue one yesterday. Too bad, as I was seriously considering jumping on the red one.

Yea, Koons has actually been selling them fairly steadily now. They had a few under $40k last week and I think those have almost all sold now. My local dealer on the other hand doesn’t appear to be selling any of them at all.

Only reason I couldn’t go with a deal in Oklahoma was I couldn’t make the drive in time to make the deal work and the light colored interior popped up locally at the last minute...literally. The deal I got was likely due to it being VIN specific motivation and VIN specific incentives for the dealer to move that particular car. I know a few folks called the dealer the week after and they couldn’t get down to that number. I threw got lucky on the timing and color combo. I’ve heard some Stingers have VIN specific discounts off MSRP. Check out the link below for example. See if they can add conquest or loyalty on top of their discount. Worst case, they say no? Best case, you’re around $41,000 OTD depending on the taxes.

Wow - those are some nice deals. If they had a red GT2 AWD, I would consider calling them, but oh well. (Also, OK is kind of out of the reasonable travel zone from VA anyway). I'm not too stressed as I was planning to get a 2020. I am just hoping to get a great deal that will entice me to jump early!

Hey I went to Maryland to buy a car, and I live in Central Texas

Well the term "reasonable" means different things to different people :p

My hat's off to you. That is a serious trip to get your car. I actually drove to Chicago (~750 miles) to get my current Acura TL Type-S in 2008. Finding that car with the manual tranny was very tough, so the trip was definitely worth it, especially now in retrospect since that car has given me 12 good years (and continues to do so). I noticed your trip was about double!

I dealt with this dealership as well (I'm in DFW). They are upfront with the pricing, and it is legit. They helped me set the tone as far as negotiations with dealerships in DFW.

My experience was if you have a trade-in, Ferguson will lowball you. This is understandable, because they are not making money on the new car, and they are giving you a bid on your car sight-unseen. I went round and round with them on my car, sending multiple videos, records, pictures, etc.- over the course of a week- and they wouldn't budge. So, I ended up staying local, and finished my deal last weekend.

The dealer local to me was 2K more on the price of my GT1, but appraised my trade-in 3K higher than Ferguson. So, they were about $1500 better than Ferguson with the Texas trade-in tax credits. On a GT1, I purchased 7250 off MSRP with the 0%.....Ferguson got to 9250 off MSRP with 0%. The 10K off is if you finance at the 3.9% or 4.9% (I can't remember). You will also want to verify with Ferguson that these cars do not have lots of miles on them. That was one thing I did not check on (didn't get far enough).

I believe before TTL I was at $39K or so for purchase price of a GT1. This was on a ~$46500 MSRP or so. If I hadn't taken the 0%, I would have gotten an additional $2750 off, for a total discount of 10K....For me, the 0% was a better deal.

Hope this helps.....
