• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Does anyone else do this ?
you have parked strategically, no cars on either side, as you approach your car, another car rolls in right next to you.
You feel a touch of anxiety, you find yourself sprinting into action to get into your car and scrambling to pull out before the driver/ and or passengers open the doors to disembark their vehicle.
It seems a tad " paranoid " but I don't want my Stinger door dinged if I can possibly help it.:cautious:

I have taken mine to 1 of my jobs, 6 days old, have to park on the street. I've checked it once & even the CFO went out & took a pic so it was alright. I know how you feel Angel.

Love it, it doesn't dissipate over time, Iv'e had mine a year and one month and still anxious about leaving Sonic anywhere.

Only good thing is that I am right across the road from GFB Go Fast Bits that some of you might know. I might look at their hybrid combo BOV's.

Sounds like me. Normal behaviour for Stinger owners isn’t it.

So just to resurrect a topic from way back in this thread earlier this year, I’m still having issues with the Stinger deciding to notify and be able to read some text messages, but not all messages despite working perfectly when I first bought the car. Anyway lately it’s been throwing up a message but it’s so quick I’ve had to resort to filming it and then getting screen shots from the video. Essentially Bluetooth connects and the phone works normally, but at times I’ll receive a text message and the car won’t recognise it. So I go into the message option on the car only to be shown the following despite the phone and car connected via Bluetooth

You’ll see in the top right corner the phone is connected. So after tapping the connect button on the bottom the following displays.
593E5B7E-73C0-4B44-AA2C-62A0FFB9D3B1.webp
It flashes up pretty quick, literally a second, followed by
ACC2B013-B535-4632-A88A-11C16E7FD098.webp
Only problem is the show notifications option is already active on my phone and despite the claim text messaging is available it still doesn’t always work.

Not sure what the issue is, everything is setup the way it should be, but it only sometimes works. Didn’t mention it at the last service, might mention it when I go in for the 40,000k service. Still pretty sure they’ll claim it’s a phone problem rather than a car problem.

I have a Samsung A8 and so far, no problems, could it be an Iphone issue.

Honestly it could be either phone or car. It worked perfectly when I first got the car, I’ve had it for 2 years now, so there’s been software updates for the car and numerous software updates for the iPhone. Obviously something is not syncing up somewhere. Problem is it works some days and not others. Only an issue with text messages, calls work perfectly.

Mate, this is normal

Mate, this is normal behaviour. I do this too.

In fact, I will park a full kilometre away from other cars.

I saw a stinger GT review video which demos the side flaps of the drivers seat moving to kinda hold you in your seat in Sport mode. Does the Aussie 2020 model do this as mine does not seem to?.

Anyone order recently from

Sal Colascione III
The Stinger Forum
at Kia Stinger dot com

I only ask because so far its been a month and my order tracking says still in USA waiting to leave.
Sal has been very helpful & just sent a replacement but I paid for First Class Shipping not snail class using USPS.
Have any others in Australia experience a long delivery cycle?.

I love my Stinger and was parked in Armadale train station and the cops came over to admire it, they were very impressed. First time thats happened to me,,, Yipeeeiioooo
Sal has been a great seller and I’ve bought several items from him but this darn Covid crap world wide has affected postage badly to no end especially it seems coming to Australia.
Be patient, it will turn up.

Well you are certainly not wrong there, so far it will be 7 weeks since SaI sent my order and the tracking confirms 9 movements over that time in USA and it is still there. Always wanted a tour of the USA.

Has anyone had a genuine Kia towbar fitted and any problems with doing so.

Yes, found some info.
Seems pretty bad in the way they fit them,, hacking away at the underneath plastic part of the bumper etc and even to the point of a cable you keep in the boot that has the trailer connector on. WOW.
I have asked my local Kia dealer for the latest update and they dont seem to know how it fits because they they have never done one.
Its a worrying time

It sounds having a toe bar is for life otherwise there is an unsightly cut out in the bumper:(.

Big blunder by Kia, my 360 degree camera / satellite is showing a white car where I clearly ordered & got a red one !!!

Pity they didn't have them in the colour we bought, silly Kia  but the white is so it shows up well on our screens.
My silver Optima had a white car too, can you imagine the looks on the service dept's faces if you took the car in and complained :rofl:
