This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

@allfit@50
Yes, closed when engine is off.

Correct. I'm going to check on cold start this morning to see that they're indeed opening.
I just wish I knew where to wire in the cut-off switch.

Normally opens on cold start with a bit of a "roar".

G,day to all Stinger owners,

I'm new to the forum and I also have Kia Stinger GT in Ceramic Grey with the red leather interior and the bi-modal exhaust fitted, which was purchased new back in August of 2018.

I recently notice only one of the actuator valves working on my exhaust. The drivers side seems like it remains closed and no gases seem to pass at start up. The valve seems like it's always in the closed position. I can see when the engine is off that the passenger side is open. Seems like I too will need to go back to Kia to investigate this.

The actuator hasn't fallen off like what happen to ShannonC's car. But can anyone shed some more light on my situation as I also hear vibration from the back as I accelerator?

Hi mate this has happened twice to me. One of the actuators stops working and it gets stuck in either open or closed position. I noticed a drop in performance when this happened, not as responsive.

Took it to KIA and they investigated the issue, which was a faulty actuator. They replaced the actuator on both occasions (happened 4 months apart) and all is working again. Hasn't happened since. It's a relatively quick fix (have to wait for parts etc)

Also don't let them say that you have to go back to the purchasing dealer. If it came with the car it has 7 years warranty like the car does and U can get it fixed at any KIA dealer.

Thanks for the quick response Hally83. I know what you mean. I had asked a question about warranty for the dealer fitted tinted windows and they said to go back to the selling dealer in Mornington. Well, I don't live anywhere near there so I will definitely insist for the fix for the actuator valve at my local dealership. I don't know about you guys but I have had a few issues and Kia have been more than happy to fix it every time. I've had sunroof issues (fixed three times and counting), interior trim issues, lip spoiler issues, 3-D camera issues, black chrome molding issues and they fixed it all without any fuss . . . . Surprising, no?

Welcome @AC_Stinger
Your bi-modai issue is most likely easily fixed and should be covered by warranty.
Seems you've been plagued with other issues so let's hope this is the last. Good to see that Kia is being cooperative.

You can't control when the valves are open and closed unless you're meeting the parameters of the bimodal ecu. So some people like to keep the valves open by disconnecting it. Unfortunately some people don't understand how it works and end up disconnecting the system with the valves are closed.
hi there - is this possible to do with the new MY21 stinger fitted from new with the bi-modal exhaust?

Had the bi-modal fitted today and it sounds sooo much better!

Question for those with one though, the standard exhaust pipe went well and truely up into the exhaust tips, however the bimodal seems a lot shorter and there is a gap between the pipes and the exhaust tip. Is this standard?

Hey guys, any chance the aforementioned techniques works for the MY21 cars? I had a quick look through the fuse section of the manual and the only fuse relating to the active variable exhaust is located in the engine fuse box compartment.
For reference, my values are open when the car is off but quickly closes after starting the car. Would like the whole exhaust to be open full time and any drive mode of possible.

Just an update the dealer fixed my bi-model exhaust system by replace the entire thing. So all is well and yes Goob_Scooper the bi-model exhaust tips fall short and leave a gap. This is also on my 2018 model as well.

How good is the bi-modal exhaust? I had it fitted a few months back and it's bloody awesome.

Yeah, sorry guys, I haven't forgotten about it, just need a bit of time to get it done. Things have been a bit busy even though all this virus stuff is going on. I will take some pics of what I have done and write it up. Promise!
Would also love to know what / how you did this and how it worked (assuming you're still around).

Just out of curiosity, which dealer did you go to in Vic? I am currently having the same issue. Only one of my actuators are working
