• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

This is my first post with a brand new Night Sky edition, but can totally relate to the Canberra comments and also the issues with getting the bi-modal system fitted (which I was only informed on the morning of picking up the new car that I had to take it back to have it fitted). So car booked in at their other branch (because that's where the exhaust got delivered to) only to be told after I had been waiting there an hour that they could not do it that day. After totally losing it and speaking to the GM, arranged another suitable day for them to do the work (this week) only to find that now the car has a range of other issues (like remote locking/unlocking not working, smart tailgate operation now random) along with a NON-FUNCTIONAL bimodal exhaust! Just fantastic..., Now booked in again to have corrected next week. Lets see if they can mange to actually get things sorted. If not it will be off to the other Canberra dealer... But love this forum and appreciate all the comments/posts.
Just curious, did you have the bimodal added as an extra like most do? From what I’ve read on the Kia website, the bimodal is included in the Night Sky edition. If the dealer has tried to sell it to you as an add on then they’re running a scam. Sounds like Canberra dealers are shit. Good luck with it but don’t let them screw you over.

The Night sky comes with Bi-modal but its dealer fitter upon delivery. Minewas fitted prior to delivery rather then a week or so later

It was included in the price and was meant to be fitted prior to delivery. However, installation did not happen prior to delivery and now I am bearing the pain of trying to get this sorted.

Aftersales service is pathic in Canberra from most dealers, Typical Sales and Service jut don't talk to each other. "Get the sale before the end of the month he can sort the aftersale side himself get my commission cheque"

yeah I drove away from my 10k service from a Canberra KIA service centre and then 2kms down the road my intercooler hose pops off. Rang them up but they said it must just be a coincidence. Then go back the next day and then put it back on. Drive off down the road and give it abit and then the intercooler hose pops off again. Drive straight back there and was furious. They gave me a loan car (they didnt with my service) and then ordered in another clip. Got it back later that day and was ok after that. That was enough to put me off dealers for awhile, though I have found a really good one in Sydney.

Not the experience you want with a new car. Good luck with it. If you didn’t get extras thrown in with the sale line floor mats etc, try and hit them up for them now as compensation for the stuff up. It’s on them to sort, not you.

Good idea - will raise with the Dealer Principal.

Question for the experts. What are the chances of having 2 bad actuators on a new exhaust? I still am doubtful these tech's know what they are doing with my car. and let's not talk about the proximity sensors Guess I am talking to my lawyer tomorrow FML

I would think unlikely both would be faulty but it is possible. My money is on incorrect installation, perhaps something not properly connected. You shouldn't have to go through this crap but that's only stating the obvious.

Was this ever answered? I too would like eto know how to achieve this result with my bi-modal that would be great.
Nope still waiting for the Step by Step guide???

Yes, though they did fix my Bimodal exhaust issue previously so they arent all that bad. Just must have had the apprentice on my car that day... didnt appreciate the screw around though.

What did dealer do to fix the actuator?

It's happened twice and both times they replaced the actuator. John McGrath did the first one and Noble KIA in Chullora did the second one. Noble also replaced the bracket assembly aswell as it looked abit worn.

Yeah, sorry guys, I haven't forgotten about it, just need a bit of time to get it done. Things have been a bit busy even though all this virus stuff is going on. I will take some pics of what I have done and write it up. Promise!

Hi all. MY18 factory bimodal here.

I was super keen to wire in a switch to toggle bimodal on and off, placing it inline from the fuse tap.

To my surprise, I don't have a fuse tap. They've hardwired it somewhere? I noticed my rear fuse panel has a bundle of wiring, almost as if it's intended to run to the front of the car and the wired in somewhere else. Can anyone confirm its the same for them? See pics.

Also, my bimodal outlets are rusty AF! Inside lines look clean.

@Ghostdog
MY18 is typically patched into front fuse panel. Your rear panel is same as mine so I have no idea where it's been patched. Seems whoever did the installation became a little creative. Also, no rust evident on my flaps.

Are your flaps closed when switched off?

Mine on the MY20 are open when engine is off by default
