This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Just received the notification letter yesterday.

Anyone in AU participated in the recall? How was the experience if you had the oil feed pipe replaced?

Any issues following the fix?

I got the letter last week and booked it in for the work on Tuesday 27th.
Car was with them all day, collected it at 5.00 pm, so far so good.
It's parked in the garage at home and won't get used until the weekend, I can give it a quick once over to make sure all bolts are tight and fluids at the correct levels.

I just dropped mine off this morning and was told it's a more complicated work will take a full day. I was also told that there was an issue with a previous recall work that was done that the engine light came on after the customer picked it up and had to bring the car back.

I will report back here once I pick up the car and drive it over the weekend.

Same, was told over the phone they'd need one to one and a half days. They've already done a few cars, and I'm rather reluctant to get mine done and will hold out for a while.

I picked up the car this arvo. Not sure if im just being perdantic, but I have noticed my bi modal exhaust is not as loud as before after the fix.

It probably sounds as loud as the newer Stingers with the standard bi-modal. Mine is the optional MY20 bi-modal which was significantlly louder.

I don't think they did a switch-a-roo, it's definately the same exhaust as I compared to the photos that I took of the exhaust system when the car was new. The valves also still open and close as they should.

Interested if others experience the same.

Mine was done last week, I have experienced no problems atm, if I didn’t know it was done I wouldn’t notice any difference, so hopefully moving forward all will be OK.

The guys at Kia Robina finished a couple this week, i dropped in for a chat with the Tech guy's while i was purchasing some parts and fluids.

This is definitely the Dealership i would be taking my Stinger to if you live in the South East.

Bumping ideas around they even helped cure my oil burning issues and they know all my mods and have no issue completing any warranty work if needed because of my mods.

I would still pay for the labour as that is the right thing to do, you play you pay.

But that is just me...

I have noticed that I am hearing whoosing running water noises behind the dash while inside the car on cold starts. I searched this issue and some folks from the US were having this exact issue after the same recall fix. Seems like they have not done the air bleeding procedure properly and there is air in the cooling system. The other problem because of this is the heating does not work properly, it just blow cold ambient air when idle.

The car seems to drive OK for now an not overheating, but I do not want to risk it and will take it back to KIA.

Just burp the system, i did it when i reconnected my TB hoses back up just incase.

Did anyone's turbo feed pipe exhibit abnormal wear? I've heard the pipe won't be worn unless driven extremely hard for an extended period of time.

I don't know on mine, I didn't ask to look at the old one.

Just got chance to check mine over after the recall work.
Very disappointed to find oil level over filled and coolant level very low.
I'll call the service department in the morning and find out how they want to put the car right.

A couple of days later, I have noticed that the coolant level has changed when the engine is cold and it's right at the lowest line. It was about halfway between low and full lines when I first noticed it. There is no evidence of any coolant leaking. The only explanation is maybe the coolant somehow got to the air void in the cooling system? Not sure if that's even possible?

I topped up the coolant on the radiator then the overflow tank to the full line when cold. I drove it around for about an hour and even in Eco mode to hear any noises, I couldn't hear any whooshing running water noises anymore. The heating also seems to be working but maybe still not as hot as before.

I will still take the car back to Kia next week to make sure there are no issues. I will monitor the coolant levels in the next few days.

They probably don't bother bleeding the coolant system.

I've done my coolant changes with similar tool and it's worked really well at preventing air being trapped in the system.

Won't be getting mine done anytime soon. Probably come back with further problems. You would smell oil if the oil feed line was ruptured. Why worry about it until this time if it ever occurs. There are thousands of Stingers out there that have done a lot more kms than mine that have never had any of these issues. Each to their own though.

Ok so I didn't end up taking the car back to Kia.

The coolant level is stable on the reserve tank when cold after a longer drive the day before. I have gone for shorter drives and it has been stable since. The water noises also went away. My guess is the coolant somehow made its way and filled up the air bubbles, hence the drop in levels before. But it's stable now.

The exhaust also came back alive to its normal sound levels after a few drives. So I have no issues now.

I still suggest to have the recall done rather than not knowing when it would cause issues. At least you can monitor the coolant issue and know when to top up or if there is a problem and take the car back to Kia.

I had mine done recently and there seems to be no issues at all.

After seeing that link to the procedure I might have a better look over my car though. Didn't realize the depth of the job was THAT deep.

I dropped off my stinger this morning for the pipe replacement. I have only 35k travelled and am now worried that my car will not be returned to it factory condition having read your posts and seen the amount of dismantling required to replace the pipe , hopefully the mechanic is experienced and a very carefull operator.

I'ts been over a month now and no issues since topping up the coolant. The level has been stable and I did not have to take the car back to Kia.
