Is there ANY way at all to stop the damn horn from honking at the end of the remote start cycle?. I have many neighbors and the damn thing is loud. I'm not making any friends with the damn horn beeping at 5am.

What do you mean by end of the remote start cycle? After the car starts it after it’s been on for 5/10 min and times out?

My horn has never honked as part of the remote start process.

Mine does this also... aside from the pathetic sound, it’s not the best at 5:00 in the morning.

Does it only do it at the end of the timer cycle, when the car is shutting off?

OK - then there seems to be at least one obvious solution to not having it beep. Might save some fuel as well ...

Do you have the time out set to 5min or 10min?

Yeah not a option when it's anywhere from 25 degrees to -10.....
We hit -40 here and get along fine without using remote start, so it's always just an option.

If you do choose to use remote start, my suggestion was to get out to the car and start your drive before it times out - the car doesn't get any warmer past a certain point, and should be plenty warm for you by then ... :)

It would still be nice if it stayed running for 20 min instead of 10

Enter thread about beep at the end of remote start... get recommendation from someone who doesn’t have remote start..to not use remote start..as it’s intended. (As if we all hadn’t figured that option out already.)

Hey thanks man!

Your solution defies the reason for remote start on the first place. Let's just admit KIA dropped the ball BIG TIME with the whole remote start thing. Personally had I'd known this prior, I would have paid to put an aftermarket remote start into the car just as I did with my last two SXLs

Actually, it was a suggestion from somebody who DOES have remote start, as all Canadian cars come with that feature standard in the UVO package. Not using remote start is a personal choice.

And I in no way suggested the OP not use it. I simply pointed out that if it was used AS INTENDED, the car would be driven away before the 10 minute timer expired, and the beep would not be an issue. Leaving the car running for an extended period of time serves no purpose other than burning extra fuel with zero MPG, and increasing emissions.

Hey thanks man!
Glad I could help! :D

In a word: NO
You could disconnect the horn, but you may need it some day . . . I have the same problem; I even considered puting a switch on the horn-- but I'd forget to turn it on most of the time.

I generally only use remote start if I plan to get in and drive somewhere.

Perhaps it's a courtesy to remind you that you had places to go and forgot.

The horn caught me off guard the first time I heard it as I was standing outside the car about to get in. Luckily I was at work in the parking lot and it didn't really bother anyone. I'm hesitant to use it in the morning so I've just been going out and getting in the car to start it.

Hopefully a whambulance is on the way...

I don’t understand the reason for this, does KIA think it’s important to let you and your neighbors know your car shut off?
