• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Alberta Stingers Check In

Hey guys.

I was around earlier trying to unload badges.. But guess what? Tomorrow my wife and I pick up our GT Limited in Calgary.

We bounced around a Mazda 6 Signature, G70, Accord, A4.... We were more committed to getting a great deal on a car we knew we would love to drive. They all have their pros and cons. We aren't badge snobs at all. We both liked the idea of a Stinger but 2019 financing rates jumped and we wrote it off.

On Sunday I saw a nice gentleman in the parking lot of Southcentre mall in Calgary with a thunder grey Stinger. He kindly spoke with me about his experience and his car looked incredible. He got me to look into it again.

I saw a window of opportunity on a 2018 with the lower financing rates, black Friday deals and included winter tires and were able to work a deal my wife and I felt great about. We went Thunder Grey with red interior.

Dealer has been as good as they get so far. I may elaborate on that later. We've been probing other dealers with other manufacturers in the last few months and man oh man are there some clowns out there.

Excited to read the forum and enjoy the car for years to come. I kept those badges but I'm seeing some horror stories about attempting that.
Congrats, nice colour choice

Hey everyone,

Been trolling the forums for a bit, figured I'd finally check in.

West side Edmonton picked up an Atomic Blue Stinger GT Limited during the summer.

Wan't mine but I there is a 2nd blue stinger in the blue quill area that I have come across a few times

I keep seeing a black Stinger with black rims(no it’s not mine, lol) rolling around, almost on a daily basis. Last saw it on 91st going to summer-side, wanted to know if it’s one of you guys.

Ghost Grey with large "Stinger" re-badge in NE Calgary, I waved at you from the passenger seat of my Stinger on the weekend!

I would have preferred to be driving that day... but I broke my foot over the holiday.

Nice ride buddy.

Just wanted to know if any of you driven your Stinger over that couple of days? Ice covered roads and freezing temperatures, want to know how it handle.

If you're referring to the last couple of days, in the depths of the 'Polar Vortex', I've made a point of taking it out. As this is the coldest the car has seen to date, I wanted to check how quickly it warmed up, make sure the front and rear defrosting worked well, see if it maintained a good engine temp at highway speeds with the cold air flooding into the radiator, etc.

All that worked great, and the overall handling on poor sections of road was excellent as well - as it has been the few other times I've driven it in challenging winter conditions. Judging by other vehicles I've seen spinning their wheels and sliding about, not everybody is enjoying the drive as much as I am. :p

A HUGE part of that is tires, of course, and I couldn't be happier with the Michelin X-Ice3 tire I selected for my winter set ...

I’m on blizzaks and the car has performed well. One day i opened my garage door as i was leaving and my car went from -1 to -28 in mere moments. Some interesting crackeling sounds in the windshield area but all was good.

I do wonder how much the brake-based AWD (which works very well) is consuming the brakes.

I'm also on Blizzaks and I can only say that I truly enjoy driving in this weather with the Stinger!
Did a road trip to Drumheller for a hockey tournament this past weekend and put the UVO remote starter to good use and I was impressed with how well the ventilation kept the windows clear when most everyone else's windows were not!

Im on blizzaks as well, and they are pretty disappointing, at least when compared to the Hakks Ive had on almost every other car Ive owned. Also, coming from a 4Matic Benz, the AWD system leaves something to be desired. Overall the car is not bad in snow/ice, but I expected better. Next winter Im going to buy a set of Hakkapelittas and hope that it improves.

That’s good to hear, I have it parked this winter but, my Honda may not make it to next winter.

I’ll be selling my 19” stock rims soon in case you want a winter set that matches your summers.

My Stinger isn’t on stock wheels, I have my stock 19” still. I blew a tire in the summer and it was $350 to $400 get it replaced, they also only had one in Canada at the time. Ended up getting a good deal on 20” rims with tires.

Same thing happened to me! Bought one from tirerack.com for way too much.
