I am at a decal shop getting my new Stinger emblem put on and when they removed the small stinger emblem the paint came off. He is a professional and I watched him remove it with heat and automotive thread. He said he has never seen that happen before. Stinger’s paint is soft and fragile.

Did it to my hood even after taking all the precautions.

that stinks. sorry for you. this doesn't happen often enough to blame bad paint. but some vehicles have a problem and yours is one. watch for other signs that your paint job is weak. you get 36 mos or 36000 miles to find out and then the warranty is done.

He is an idiot and applied to much heat. Simple! Professional thats :rofl:. And sorry to say you my fellow Stinger Winger are not the sharpest knife for allowing the idiot to touch your Stinger. Why did you not do it yourself? Cement hands? Always miss the net from the slot? Do ya really think ya would have done a worse job of it. I can‘t count the number of these self inflicted stories I’ve read in my years here. Regardless I hope you get it fix to your standards. Wherever those may lie. Oh I see you’re new, welcome to all things Stinger. Cheers:geek:

Gosh that’s horrible.

Are you in Calgary? You could go to micro paint and have that fixed. You’d never be able to tell. Had it done for small spots quite a few times.

Never.use.heat.

It's not needed. Sure you can perhaps get it off faster but there is a bigger risk factor Involved which is peeling paint.

Just use fishing wire, a shit ton of goo gone... and in a hacksaw motion go in-between the emblem and the panel whilst applying pressure towards you for not scraping the paint.

It'll take abit longer but x10000 safer.

Should not have used heat.

The detailing shop definitely over applied the heat. A heat gun, if used, is overkill. That new sticker is also a big downgrade.

There is really no need to use heat at all for the new logos. A hair dryer on medium setting for a couple of seconds if you must.

What automotive thread lol. Just use a fishing line to cut through the adhesive. Anything that remains on the paint can be rolled up with your fingers and cleaned up with rubbing alcohol. Easiest badges I've ever removed on a car.

Used a hair dryer on mine with no paint removal (although, due to a prior owner’s rear accident on mine, whoever redid the back end decided not to bother taking off the badge.) Had to have the section repainted.

All good now though!

Nice work. Crazy how the incompetents take it to so called professionals and get a cocked up job in return. Are your wheels powder coated or is it plasti-dip? They look great in this picture.

Yes my intention was to leave it badgeless. However I can’t get it painted today and a tacky decal looks better than ZB

Just like ya don’t get a trophy for finishing 4th,5th,6th etc. I don’t think rewarding stupidity helps anyone. In fact our government started a program a couple years ago whereby they started giving all the stupid people a special medicine. And now we are seeing an unusually high death rate among those that received their special medicine. So you see stupidity is simply not rewarded at any level. ;)
