• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

Tried to login into the Kia portal for this latest update but it would except. It says my VIn is already registered, so I guess when Kia updated my maps at the 10,000k service they used their login details and the VIN only recognizes their password and email address.:(

Maybe I'm only entitled to upgrade a year.
Here's my last one.

I thought we were entitled to a free update each time a new version was released. The update prior to this was done in October and I had no issue doing the latest.
I think you may be correct about what the dealer did.

Update was a success! All downloaded and installed in car. Havent got time to have a decent look, but at first glance the media player looks different, and navigation has some extra features. About bloody time we got an update - hopefully now this gets the ball rolling and they become more frequent.
Do you still have ‘files’ search function in media player when using a USB?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
So takes about 45 to 60 minutes for it to do the update, so far I've not seen any differences the roads are still wrong around me.

Yeah ran the update about an hour ago seemed to go pretty smoothly for me. Doesn't seem like the maps are much better than before but I've only taken a quick 10s look. Guess we'll find out the quirks over the next week or 2.

Good thread. I'm downloaded will update in the car later
Surely an email notification direct from au-map-care site would have been a nice way to get the update. I guess if it ain't broke... most won't bother.

Took this screenshot to my dealer today & they confirmed that this update is available for my model, booked in for 3rd June @ no charge, thanks for posting @mitchyboy.
And before anybody jumps in, no I’m not going to do it myself, I’ll let the dealer do it, it’s free & if they have issues they fix it, not my responsibility IMHO.

Had my dealer do my 10000 service today. On pick up they advised me that maps were done already and then I showed them the screen shots from this thread. So they finally scrambled and got the update done while I waited. It appears the bulletins aren’t getting to the dealers quick enough from KIA head office. Once again the forum is way ahead of dealers info.
The update gives a different look when playing music and some other stuff too, get it done recommend it.

If the dealer has done an update for you in the past, then it may be against their email address and password. Should be able to get that changed though. If they haven't then contact the web site or KIA to get it sorted out.

I was told there are 7 years of free updates with all Stingers sold in Australia to match the warranty period of the car. Don't see why anyone would be different.

I'll have a play with the SD car tomorrow, I've done the update OK, it doesn't appear to be tied or branded to a VIN number, that being the case then a simple copy of an updated SD card should also update your maps, if you know someone in the area with a Stinger.

Take the SD out of the car and download on PC or laptop....should work ok.

Since the upgrade, I'm please to announce the Navigation System no longer tells me there is a School Zone when I enter the Westgate Freeway o_O although frankly the Westgate and Melbourne drivers, is a freeway full of angry children at the best of times
It still says the speed cameras on the top of the Westgate bridge are still there, but they have never worked in the 16 years since they were installed:rolleyes:
Also I don't have a School Zone in my work Car Park anymore o_O
Still has many incorrect speed limits for Melbourne Roads.

The changes to the media screens are interesting, if like me you use a USB key full of music, the screen now has the album cover as a background.
I give the upgrade a B...

Thanks for the great thread @mitchyboy

I have updated my Kia Stinger GT to the latest firmware.

Though, it didn't improve the speed signs, it still gets it wrong on many streets. I don't use their Navigation system so I am not too entirely sure about the maps quality in Perth (I like my Android Auto too much).

Is this a scam site? 2019 Kia Stinger Map Update-134S5CK19

$199 to buy the download? That can't be right. There doesn't seem to be an owner center you can log into from the Canadian kia.ca site.

Rather put a whole new SD card in, than overwrite the already working version in there. I'll just go buy a 16gb one, chreap as these days.
But cheers for the tip.
