2.0T Community Thread

The manufacturer states 15-25 HP gains, but who really knows. It all depends on so many factors, but the core and piping are larger than stock, so it at least has better air flow, and should cool relatively better. Which of course means more power.

As for the warranty, same as any other mod I mentioned before. Just because you install an aftermarket FMIC, doesn’t mean the warranty is automatically voided. However, if something goes wrong with the drivetrain, and you try to submit a claim to fix it, I’d bet my last dollar that the KDM engineers looking into the claim will look for anything and everything that intercooler could have done wrong, causing damage to the drivetrain.

It is on them to PROVE that your aftermarket parts caused the failure, but I’m no engineer myself, so not exactly sure how I would prove them otherwise if they determined my mods caused the failure. It’s all a calculated risk in my opinion.

But hey, it’s only money right? :)
I see. Thank you for that info. I'll note that. It IS lot of money to fork out for a modest gain, but definitely an option.

I could be wrong but the benefits of cooling oil come when the car is under high intensity for extended distances. Does not sound practical unless you are going to the track everyday.
I think it helps with fuel efficiency though too.
Tsiano, does that sound accurate?

JB4 was great but I felt that the engine was struggling against the added boost. It started making some metallic noises from time to time under load/acceleration, which seemed like low speed preignition, so I had to just give it up.[/QUOTE]

Probably a good idea. It's a great looking car, unless it is under an engine hoist.

That kinda scares me too. My daily drive is Map1 only go up when conditions are favorable (weather, traffic, police activity, location etc)
I cant imagine going back being that the 2.0 is very sluggish without the tune and pedal tuner. I should have gone with the 3.3 as my fuel efficiency has gone down exponentially since adding the mods.
I'm looking at a lowering kit for the 2.0 as my next project.

ICs don’t have any direct affect on oil temps. ICs cool the air compressed by the turbo before it gets to the intake manifold. Lower temperatures and increased density of the air into the manifold is what produces more power. An IC will help the engine breathe cooler air whether your on the track or casually driving to work.

The debate about IC and MPGs goes back and forth, but it’s more about airflow than anything else. Regardless, the affect is negligible at best.

The fuel efficiency has much much to do with how you drive the car than anything else. The increased power will burn more fuel of course, but sometimes it’s just you enjoying that power more than you realize. :)

Hey all,

2018 2.0T stinger GT-line in yellow here in Australia. With all the extras, Just got it a couple of weeks ago. Thought about a GT but got a deal on the 2.0 which I couldn't refuse and it has enough power for me.

I haven't done any mods to the car yet other than black rims. Not planing to do overly much, Just some aesthetics really. On the cards to come

- full black roof wrap
- full lip kit
- badge removal and large stinger logo in the boot.
- pedal tuber

Welcome from Georgia!!

Welcome from Georgia!!
Cheers.

From reading through the thread I can see the differences in trims around the world is bigger than I thought.

For example, I got the gt-line which essentially has all the same features as the 3.3gt bar a couple of small things like been no brakes, nappa leather rather than normal leather and digital gauges when in sports mode.

I have sunroof, 360 camera and everything else. We only have 4 trims here is Australia too. 2 trims for 2.0 and 2 for 3.3. We used to have 6 but they cut it down with the 2019 release.

I am adding a lowering kit. I found it on the Eibach collection. Sway bars and lowering springs but I don't know exactly how I would get those installed. I need to find someone in Atlanta who will do it.

Darn! We can't get the 360 camera here with the 2.0, and I miss that as much as anything else. My two Optima SX-L's made me damn near dependent on it.

even less in the UK, we have 3 trims; GT Line which is the base model, GT Line S which comes with sunroof, better sound system, wireless charging pad, 360 camera and a few other bits and then the GTS which has everything (nappa leather etc.) GTS is the 3.3L, the GT line & GT Line S have either the 2.2 diesel or the 2.0L Turbo Petrol, mine is the 2.0L GT Line S so the mid range one

No diesel in the States yet, as far as I am aware.

No diesel in Australia either. I wonder whether they would sell more if there was. Australians love their turbo diesels, but usually on SUVs.

I got my 2019 2.0T last march. I absolutely love it. I love the subtle body style. It stands out without having to scream"hey look at me" if that makes any sense.
I have have added about 4k in mods to the car as well. Michelin Pilot tires staggered 245/255. Tinted the windows, added JB4 and the Typhoon cold air intake. Changed the badges. For me it has become a hobby. The car really moves and handles well since adding the performance tires and JB4.
My next mod will be the inter cooler system.
Have fun and be safe.

Can you send post of link for the tires you got?

Just a heads up, I have asked sal who owns the stinger store whether he can stock 2.0T / 2.0GT emblems or something similar for us as everything is targeted to the 3.3 cars. I think it would be nice. I want to do these emblems on my front fenders just behind the wheel arches.

He is also in the process of getting black chrome stinger text emblems for the rear kia badge replacement which will match everything a bit nicer.

I just ordered the carbon fiber stinger script . Had not seen that before. I agree on more 2.0T emblems. Cmon SAL . Hook us up!!!

Sounds like we have very similar cars!

Also bought my ‘19 2.0 in March. I am almost entirely stock in terms of appearance. Stock tires, wheels, badges, etc.. I haven’t even tinted the windows, although I think I will do that eventually. I like the idea of being a true sleeper... the car certainly turns heads on its own, but it doesn’t appear to be a heavily modified car at all.

All my money has gone to performance so far: K&N Typhoon w/ Velossa Tech intake, JB4 w/ bluetooth, HKS plugs, BMS Pedal Tuner, Maintec FMIC, and Jun BL EVC Catback exhaust.

Sounds like you’ve done your research with mentioning paint quality and the odd sounds/rattles that pop up here and there. I’ve not heard many stories of drivetrain issues though, especially if you’re going to keep that stock.

I think the general consensus from the Stinger community is, for the money, dollar for dollar, you can’t buy a better luxury sports sedan. In the very same breath, I completely agree with, “you get what you pay for”.

If you want something with no issues at all, pay the premium for the more established luxury brands, but even then I find it hard to believe you’d never run into issues. I think the main difference would be the quality of service you’d get from one of those dealerships vs a Kia dealership. But, you’re also paying for that with the cost of service and the sticker price of the car itself. So again, you get what you pay for.

If I had a blossoming money tree out back, I’d probably be driving an M6, but that’s just not reality for my family situation. So for what I paid, I couldn’t be happier with my Stinger.

Would you recommend the JBL EVC Exhaust? It’s pricey so I’m wondering between that and the JBL Catback Gt Exhaust. Any recommendations?

There are actually a lot of 2.0 threads started but die off really quickly due to the inevitable "should have gotten a GT" comments by 3.3 owners (which I think there should be a rule against). Especially any threads about performance mods. Most of the comments are well meaning and does make sense if you start to spend enough to close the gap to the 3.3 then it would seem logical to just move up to the 3.3. However, well meaning or not, those comments end 2.0 threads really quick and also leaves a bad impression on owners of 2.0's and you end up with less participation in the forum. At least IMO and I've been around since the early days of this forum.

Pics: What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

I have a dragy and I concur with TStaino. Without tune high 6's 0-60 but mostly in the 7's. Best so far with the racechip is 5.71 but mostly in the low 6's.

However, I didn't get my car to drag race on the street. I have to commute about 2-3 hours each day in bumper to bumper city traffic, so I mostly got the performance mods to improve daily drive-ability in traffic.

With the Racechip on, did you reduce the gap on your HKS M45XL spark plugs? Have these plugs worked well with your Racechip, even at the highest Racechip setting?
