Whoa wait a sec...the pricing for the unit is based upon G cars right 1000/1200? we aint g cars ....we be poor folk in our stingers....so the price of a G car is way more than a poor folk stinger? based on this alone the unit ought to come in bout 800 bills ttl

So has anyone had deep enough pockets to do a comparison between the Lap3 and JB4?

All I've seen so far on reading this thread is a pissing match between two competing product developers...

I don't really see a reason for someone who already owns a JB4 to ditch it and make the switch.

I think the people who will have the most interest in this is the ones who don't have a tuned car.

Thats a fair point, but there are plenty of people on here trying out different exhaust systems, intake systems and intercooler mods... maybe there is someone out there with a collection of OB2 connectors and flashes

One can hope, last thing I want to get the wrong one...

That's disappointing. I'd like to think we post a good amount of technical information like data logs, drag times, dyno results, how to videos, whatever we can add to the community. For example we just improved the JB4's timing control and plan to hit the dyno with some various timing profiles to see if there is anything to be had there. If so I'll share what I found. If not, I'll share it didn't work out. If it works out, JB4 Stinger v5 firmware coming soon!

Then perhaps you both just need to stick to your own threads... but you did seem pretty petty towards your competitor on here!!
Lets be clear though, I'm interested in getting one of these tuning products, and I appreciate that you do share your findings and appear to give everyone the chance to use your latest firmwares. Kudos for that sir!!

This was nothing, you should have seen the Facebook thread, lol. But really it's all in good fun. I like to engage with our customers, competitors, potential customers, etc. Keeps the gears turning on new ideas. In all honesty I'm happy to see new tuning options coming out as they give us a good reason to keep pushing the Stinger JB4 platform further. Hopefully through these and future discussions customers will learn to appreciate the technical and other differences between our unit, LAP3, and the sea of other analog only systems out. And we'll pickup ideas on how we can improve our product and mapping.

We always sponsor and participate in the Shift Sector and No Fly Zone 1/2 mile runway events, normally with really fast turbo BMWs. But we'll make sure an employee brings out the Stinger too for some head to head action with whoever wants to show up. Maybe some of these grudges can be settled on the runway. ;)

I'm just glad this thread is waking back up!!! Cant wait for some reviews of the products side by side.

With respect Terry, and as someone who's currently debating picking up a JB4 unit, my 2 cents is you should let your product speak for itself. If you have the superior product, the consumers will know and will spread the word for you. Engaging with your customers and potential customers is great, and I think everyone on this forum appreciates how active you are here and your frequent info drops.. but it just looks bad on you and your brand when you enter a competitors thread to post about how much better you and your product are.

Depends on the conditions I assume!
I have heard someone pushed it up to 196mph

I'm assuming (I know that's dangerous) that they were topping out mechanically. I don't know the actual gear ratios and theoretical top speed, but the speedometer is usually set within the realm of the transmission's mechanical limit at the redline. The Stinger could be an exception, but... *shrug*

At redline 6,500rpm in 7th gear it should be around 221mph assuming it is on stock wheels/tires. 196mph should be around 5,770rpm in 7th.

Ohhh, so the factory 6100RPM redline should be good for just over 200MPH with enough power?

Interesting... They underrated their speedometer? My old car had an (embarrassing) 160MPH speedo, and at 160MPH, it's right at the 6000RPM redline.

When experinmenting please use caution, take into consideration what the tires, your axles and any other supporting components limitations may be at 200mph a tire popping or axle breaking could be fatal, not to mention any traffic that may appear seemingly out of nowhere if your on the street or highway, even brembo brakes wont stop u

A little back and forth also livens the forum up, but there are limits. We're not going to jump in to every one of their threads and post JB4 dynos and marketing, nor would the forum moderators allow that.

Worth noting BMS has been around since 2007 and we've never tried to be all things to all people. We do things a certain way. Myself and our 10 employees are active on forums and social media sites. We try to help customers and enthusiasts whenever possible. And we enjoy a good vendor flame war every now and again as long as it's all in good fun.

We've tuned tens of thousands of cars over the years around the world, most of them with much higher price tags than the Stinger, so I think we have a winning business model. That said someone has to keep all these other jokers in business so no hard feelings if someone wants to go another route. :)
