  1. 50 percent of engine torque can be sent to the front axle via a mechanical clutch in the transfer case (torque is not split side to side.)
  2. In normal driving situations, Stinger’s default Comfort mode sends up to 40 percent of engine torque to the front wheels.
  3. In Sport mode 20 percent more is sent to the rear to make the Stinger behave more like a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
  4. Sport mode—yaw sensors allow for a greater degree of slip angle before engine output is cut and ABS actuators are engaged.
  5. GT comes equipped with a mechanical-type limited-slip differential (LSD) with a carbon friction disc.
  6. TCS and ESC systems; unlike most vehicles in HMG, Stinger will come to market with a two-stage system similar to those seen on high-end German sport sedan rivals. At the push and hold of a button, ESC and TCS can be fully shut off, leaving only ABS to help stop shenanigans.

Forgot to comment on this:

"Fun-to-drive might be the tip of Kia’s Stinger when it comes to market in early 2018."

First I have heard of having to wait an entire year for the Stinger to be released......

Probably says more about when they got their information. That, or somebody was confused when they were told it was a 2018 model year.

Oh jeez. I hope you're right, Hej. Motor Trend is usually pretty reliable. Right? I don't read it but I know they've been around for a long, long time and they're a big name in the industry.

I am a bit too singularly focused on the release info for the GT.

But now that I am thinking about it I do remember some early reports indicating that it was "possible" we might not see the base (non-GT) stinger until early 2018 (with the GT releasing in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Kia reps have said repeatedly it'll come out this year, so.... it'll come out this year. Admittedly, it'll probably be *late* in the year, and as Bamm said, it's possible that the first roll of cars might not be the trim level that you want.

I am trying to figure out if I turn off traction control in sport mode, will the car still send 20% torque to the front or is it rear wheel drive at that point. Obviously I have an AWD. I am just curious

Welcome aboard, @Behr-gt2! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Stinger! :)

I am 99% sure the AWD system is independent of the traction control. Also remember the 20% number is a baseline. At anytime it can send up to 50% of the power to the front wheels.

LSD being standard for the GT is different from what KIA of America says on their website specs ..
Maybe its different for Euro market?
