Is anyone going to keep their Stinger long term?

Wow another internet wonder boi , not saying on the interwebs what i have bought ready for fitment silly man, line up and find out for yourself.

I'm in Queensland Australia by the way and my car is still sitting on a boat at the Port of Brisbane.
Wow, so I get a thumbs down and a overly sensitive comment for asking what mods you're running to get to 600whp? I wasnt doubting it was possible, I'm genuinely curious how you got to 600whp.

My buyout option is $26k, blue book for mine is $35-$37k trade in, and $40k private sale.

Im driving some other vehicles to see if there is anything to tempt me to sell and so far, no luck. Everything else either feels too plastic on the inside OR is not getting very good reviews. Another problem is to get some of the features we got standard on our Stingers, means going way up in trim on another vehicle.

It turns out buying my own car out at $26k with all the features it has an low miles is a STEAL. However obviously I could roll the equity I get from selling it into a new purchase and get something nice as well.

As a side note, I was at a dealer the other day to test drive a new Sorento with the 2.5T and they have a Stinger GT2 in the showroom, black. It had the worst orange peel paintjob of almost anything I've ever seen. I would never be able to walk up to it and enjoy it. My car (panthera gray) has slight orange peel on the hatch lid but thats it. It's not on the roof or hood or doors which is all I can really see on a daily basis walking up to the car. On the main surfaces the paint is spectacular to look it especially in sunlight.

Is it just black that has that problem or are the 2023 Stinger paint jobs worse than older years?

I will keep the car as long as I can actually drive the danged thing. this morning it won't start. tried pushing the on / off button with the fob, tried a bunch of times after total shutdown and all I get is the faintest sound of something under the hood not making it go. currently waiting to see if disconnecting the - cable from the battery does anything to reset the system. my wife drove it already this morning without issue.

edit to add, yes, it worked! car started normally an hour and a half later.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Day 5 and so far i have travelled 71km, my car came with a half tank of 91 so it has been topped up with 98.

I have washed it 3 times already

I plan to keep mine for 2-3 years, then likely buy an M3.

Gonna keep mine into college and through college. So 4 years. Then either keep it and rewrap with matte black and a stealth itasha or sell it for a Supra. I got no concerns with the car lasting long or being reliable.

Anyone know what sort of run in oil is used?

I am going to change to Fully Synthetic at 1000km's

I am waiting for the service dept to get back to me , obviously 5W30 is recommended but i think 5000km intervals will be my distance once i change this break in oil out.

I am keen to try 0W20 i have that in our Cerato GT at the moment and the economy has never been better but will go a bit thicker come winter time.

Might even try 10w40 in hers because i am getting virtually nothing in the catch can ?

You sound search this because there are 800 threads with 4,000 opinions.

When I bought my 2018 last year, I intended to keep it forever and ever. much as I love it (and my kids love it), I just don’t drive it enough to warrant the loan payments.

I also don’t work on it enough anymorr. I bought it in part as a reason to reconnect with my shade tree mechanic roots and performance tuning hobby days of yesteryear. Wrenching on it was very satisfying for the first six months, but I don’t have a lift and when the weather turned cold I lost my desire to crawl under it.

So, yeah. I dropped a feeler over in the classifieds section. Perhaps someone in WA is on the hunt for a low-mileage Stinger with some foundational mods already knocked out… ;-)

It means it's been endlessly debated, with two religions at stalemate. The BITOG (Bob is the Oil Guy) forums are full of people who nerd out on used oil analysis reports, with tons of "thick vs. thin" discussions.

Key points (claimed and true) for going up/down a weight:
- Thinner: better flow, less bearing heat, better mileage, better for winter
- Thicker: less wear, better shear resistance, better for high loads / racing or old/worn engines

The counter argument is that there'll be no real world difference, and consistent changes are far more important, so stick with what the engineers designed for. And the counter to that is that many manufacturers DO recommend a heavier weight for high speed/load use.

So: stock weight for good mileage, one weight higher if you're tracking/towing.
