Hello, this may have been discussed in the past but I cannot find it.
When i park my car in the driveway, there is rubber tread marks, and only from the front tires. I am assuming the brakes get too hot and melt the tires. Anyone else have this issue?
I am replacing the tires, all 4 rotors and pads with high performance rotors and pads.
WOW, i have to say, Kia did a horrible job on the brakes.

I highly doubt your brakes are getting so hot they're melting your tires. I can't even fathom a way that the heat from the brakes would transfer from the brakes, to the wheels, and then to the tires so much to melt them.

Your dark marks only on the fronts are probably from brake dust washing down and collecting on your driveway around the tread of the wheels. The front brakes are going to create the most amount of dust, which is probably why you're really only seeing the marks on the front.

Edit:
In fact, installing high performance brake pads might even make the dark marks on your driveway worse, especially if they create more dust than the OEM pads.

This post borders on unbelievable...

Did you even consider Googling your perceived issue first before making your post here, which includes blaming Kia for a non-existent problem?

First, the forum is setup to ask question, the only dumb question is the one you do not ask.
Next, If you are going to be rude, do not post.

Last, there is a problem from KIA, the rotors and pads are CRAP and everyone knows it. On my 3rd stock rotors with under 10K miles on car and they keep going bad. So before you post rude shit, go look in the mirror.

Look around, not the rotors, but it is the brake pads...buy some EBC Red/YellowStuffs and be done with any further issues. I have a 2022 Gt-Line and I've upgraded the fronts to the Brembos and I'm in braking bliss. Later next month when I swap in my 3-season 19" aftermarket rims/rubber, ill complete the rears to Brembos too...I almost don't get how the brakes can get any better, but im sure they will. My mechanic was kinda wowed himself and compared them to his Porsche Macan's.

EBC reds installed 1 set of rotors ago, same issues, ROTORS are CRAP.

Wow, ok, first time I'm hearing it's actually the rotors and NOT brake pad deposits....from first hand experience, the EBC floating rotors are fantastic, but pricey ($900ish). You could go with the DBA 4000s for about half that- i dont know if EBC ever released the 2-pc rotors for the rears? I guess I'd be "bent outta shape" too, if I had dropped the kinda coin you did and had to purchase aftermarket pads/rotors.

Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Are you following the procedure to bed the brakes properly? If not, that could be your problem. Not bedding properly will cause uneven deposits on the rotors (regardless of what rotors you get) and will cause the vibration or what feels like warped rotors.

Rotors are fine. However, if you brake hard with the pad material deposits on the rotors, it is possible to heat spot the rotors. That doesn't mean the rotors are crap. It just means the owner allowed the situation to get bad enough to enter into that scenario.

In G70/Stinger forums, I've seen time and time again folks blaming the rotors for the problems they had or are having. Ultimately, it is up the owner to keep on top of their cars and take care of problems before they get worse. Yes, the stock pads will leave deposits, which will lead to varying degrees of problems. How bad it gets depends entirely on the owner.

Your tires aren't melting. If you have the Pilot Sport 4 or 4s tires theyre designed to get nice and warm and sticky during the summer months, its what theyre designed for, its why they grip the road so well. When you park on hot ashphalt you will experience this with any soft max performance summer tire.

The brakes arent shit, theyre Brembo designed, the problem is the pad compound Kia chose for the NA market. Usually you can fix the issue with aftermarket pads only but proper bed in procedure is also important.

Hello, the rotors are SHIT, even the dealer admitted that almost every stinger customer has the same issue. They all have upgraded the rotors and now have no issues. The rotors get TOO hot, design flaw, and when they get really hot, then wet, they warp, simple. I am on 3rd set of rotors and running EBC Red since second rotor install. This is not my first rodeo. I have had many high horsepower cars, 900HP viper, 850HP RS6, 650HP S4 and so on. This is the first time i have had any brake issues. Not once in the past have I had to replace any brake parts, EVER. Yes the stinger is highly modified running just about 600HP, so what, brakes should not be an issue. I am replacing all rotors and pads, new front tires and will move on.

Hate to break it to you but the KIA dealers dont know their ass from their mouth when it comes to this platform, so stop taking their advice. Replacing rotors is a temp fix if you dont swap out the oem pads. A ton of members on here have had this debate for YEARS before you even joined this forum. I don't care what cars you've owned, I'm telling you, its nothing to do with the perfectly adequate vented brembo rotors, it's the pads they chose for this market 99% of the time. Now, if you're actually running 600hp (we need to see a dyno) you could very well be warping rotors if you're out doing high speed runs over and over cooking your rotors coming down from 150+mph runs.

Fyi the car list above is not a good comparison to a Stinger when it comes to braking components, the viper and RS6 have insane oem brakes, the S4 less so but yeah the Stinger aint no track car like the viper and RS6.

And yet with all the experience you still thought your tires were melting?

You still here? Yes there is rubber on the driveway, i know the difference between brake dust and rubber. So maybe, the PS 4, get really hot, which they do, and YES rubber does come off the tires, otherwise you would never need new tires. WOW

#1...The brake pads are the problem. I changed the rotors and the pads in 2018 when it was a "thing" and it helped, but I believe since then it's been decided the pads were/are the problem. #2...Owning such high horsepower cars and stating that the tires are melting from the brakes is an odd thing. I mean, the mechanics of brakes melting tires doesn't really work unless there's some serious oddity with the Stinger. #3... I learn something new everyday!

Either way, whatever it is, stock rotors and EBC pads are going BYE BYE for high performance setup. And yes, i do high speed runs and have to brake allot, I drive the car hard, same as I have been doing for 35 years. But I drive it very little, it is my wife's car, and she does not get on it.

I believe it's the hot tires on the streets, then the tires residue ending up on your driveway.
