Turbo failure dealer won’t warranty due to exhaust?

noicee!!! make them pay!

Haven't you been following the General's saga? I doubt that a totaled Stinger has any warranty whatsoever.
I have not read that yet...

I would concur.., a totalled stinger is unlikely to have any warranty. Lol

Misfires and transmission issues shouldn’t cause a turbo seal failure.

Glancing through the OPs prior posts which can be seen through his profile, he's had downpipes on the car which he sold at some point, had problems with JB4 misfires, gapping his sparkplugs, and his transmission had issues.

I like how you disregarded the part where I also mentioned you had a JB4 and downpipes on the car as those certainly play a factor with regard to the turbos... Good thing you took that approach with Kia too or you'd still be whining about them not covering the repair under warranty.

I'm glad you were able to convince the dealer that you've only ever had a catback on the car and get it covered under warranty and we don't have to hear anymore about how your dealer is horseshit like you originally stated. :)

some dealers do suck tho. the dealers in Manteca suck mad ass!!!! Dublin tho.. best dealer and service I have ever experienced in my life!!!

I didn't think Mobil 1 met the a5/b5 specs for the 3.3L. Anyway, I'm glad it worked out. I do my own oil changes, so I'm hoping that keeping my own records is good enough - maybe i'll use the pages in the manual because I buy my stuff in bulk and receipts won't be dated correctly...

I'm not an oil expert, but according to this, Mobil 1 5W-30 does meet a5/B5 specs.

Weird, when I pull up the data sheet from their website, it doesn't list that. I can't post links because I'm still a "new member" but that's why I didn't buy it. This is something that they could use to void your warranty, in the worst case.

Mobile 1 has become a ubiquitous synthetic because it meets all the standards, so it's satisfies the requirements for nearly all street vehicles that run synthetic. Only the highest end sport cars may require something specially formulated.

I don't see the normal synthetic 5w-30 on there... Just make sure you can back it up if a dealer says something because everything on here has not been able to do that. Remember, if they can find a way to void a warranty, they will!

Found a thread from a couple years ago that covers the motor oil topic well, seems to have all the necessary info to verify standard Mobile 1 5w-30 synthetic is indeed sufficient: Using Mobil Oil will void the Stinger engine warranty?

There's no reason to create alarm or doubt where none exists.

I think they updated the specs because even that thread isn't completely right. For MY 2022, this is what it says for each engine. I always double check my manual after reading forum stuff.

What does the *3 note say?

M1 5W-30 High Mileage for me.

Mobil 1 product guide in the below link gives ACEA and other approvals:

So it appears the turbo charger has failed due to a seal most likely blowing a bunch of bluish smoke and burning oil. The dealer has come back said they won’t warranty due to my aftermarket exhaust and that is what caused the turbo failure which is complete horseshit. Do I have recourse here or whatever or the dealer says is what goes even if they can’t explain exactly how the exhaust caused the turbo to fail.
What are ur mods other than exhaust?

I did but no problems at all.
Really??? You had a 10 page thread listing problems you had with misfires with your JB4 because you apparently didn't gap and torque down your spark plugs properly, which you decided to blame on a coil pack. And you ran E85 on Map 5... LMAO
None just exhaust
Quit with the BULLSHIT already!!!

Maybe that's all you had when you brought it into the dealer, but according to you, you had all these things on the car:
