3.3TT Quicksilver Exhaust Systems

So, I got a response today and he said they're making some final adjustments to how the tips mount. He also said it should arrive the first week of January.

Hmm. Ok. Guess it's not the end of the world.

Isn't some big change happening with UK-US trade relations at the end of the year?

I was awaiting their response to that exact question I sent yesterday
Hey There T2, I wanted to follow up as I have seen some of your posts regarding Exhausts etc.
I know you have had several in the past with Jun BL being one of them.

I currently am running the following exhaust:
Jun BL Catless secondary downpipes
Jun BL Mid Pipe (Junction Box)
Jun BL GT Version AxleBack Exhaust

I just swapped out the NGM Delta for the JUN BL GT. I have a growing stack of Exhaust sections in may garage.
The Jun BL sounds great at the right RPM, Cold starts are awesome, the pops and cracks when you let off the gas are nice above 3k or open throttle (JB4, Map 4, E30 , Intakes, Intercooler etc) Sounds Good. Minimal Drone and overall Quiet unless inside the 1800-2800 or so range.
RPM 1800-2800 sucks it sounds like a fart in a tin can after an aweful drone sound.

Since you had this and other setups do you think swapping the JUN BL Mid Pipe with a Resonated x pipe like the one from Bullet Performance would deepen the sound at lower RPM.
After everything I have spent on axlebacks and mid sections etc, I am not overly excited to to purchase the QS Mid and axle back with shipping around $2,500 USD I have that invested already and am still not happy with the sound sat various RPMS.

Did you happen to Try the QS Rippled Resonated Mid Pipe with the JUN BL Axleback? Just curious to see if adding the QS rippled resonated mid section would deepen the JUN BL

Any thoughts, suggestions etc are greatly appreciated.

Talk about trying to fine tune a pipe organ.

Just got home from a work meeting and it's here! Kind of surprised they dropped it off without a signature considering it said one would be required... Also if anyone is wondering I had to pay about $40 in import duties.

$40.38, to be exact.

Pics! We wanna see pics lol

Mine got to the shop yesterday, so they've got all my parts now. Just working out installation schedule, probably in a week.

The sound clips on Facebook have me worried. There is a very loud fog horn type sound when WOT.

@LordStark Just installed my exhaust today and can verify that there is a fog horn sound while accelerating..
Iv'e contacted Quicksilver to see if they can do anything on there end to help out.

Crickets here other than a couple members. What are the impressions so far? Any sound clips?

Lots of drama unfortunately, the sound is really good with exception of that weird foghorn noise at WOT. I would be really pissed after waiting this long, hopefully QS can come through with a fix. That and some fitment issues for a couple.

Do not buy from QuickSilver. Maybe the ones you'll get will be fine but I'm not betting another 2k on it.

They will reply to your emails but will not provide resolution, I couldn't even get a parts list from them of what they used to fit their test car. They dropped the ball on the design and either made a last minute change that they did not thoroughly test or skipped QA at WOT resulting in a stupid foghorn sound, that granted not all have but the majority do.

There were complaints about fitment on the original unit that were suppose to be resolved this time and the turnout is inconsistent, when I complained and asked for a refund I was told that their stuff is fine and either I did it wrong or the garage did. Sure maybe a better garage could have forced it to fit but at 2k and 9 months to develop it they could have also done a better job. Of the 3 people I'm aware of that requested a refund do to the poor quality all were denied.

And their welds look like crap, I got jagged hooks and spike on mine. Maybe they are an awesome place if your taking a Bugatti there, we either got the trainees on our stuff or they just didn't care. My interactions and how they are responding to others say they dont care.

I’m not an audio engineer, just stayed at holiday inn express last night, but that sounds like blowing across the top of a beer bottle. Most likely something with the helmholtz resonator not being built to spec or designed for insufficient air volume.

Seems I picked a helluva time to take a mental health break from the internet, lol.

The parts are still in the box. Gotta say, I was surprised when I saw it was basically straight pipes with a resonator. That wasn't the impression I got at all leading up to the shipment going out. Made me a bit hesistant to mount it right away. Combine that with work getting super heavy and I just didn't have the time to be messing around with mods. About 3 weeks ago I decide I have the time and the help needed. Then my buddy that was supposed to help, caught COVID and was out of action for a while. But he's all better and we'd finally settled on doing the job this week.

Then I figured, there's people who've had this thing on for at least a month and a half now, I bet there's some helpful advice and some good sound clips. Boy was I shocked to see all the complaints! Everyone's car sounds like a kazoo, apparently. Lotsa videos that sound great off-throttle and terrible at WOT. A couple people with driveshafts damaged by the fitment (!!). Supposedly there's a fix coming from QS "any week now." We all know how that goes around here.

So I've postponed the install once again while I wait to hear back from QS about this fix. Depending on what happens, I might just be selling the axle-back to the service manager at my local Kia dealer and buying an MBRP or JunBL. At least I know they're trustworthy parts.

It’s risky ordering a prototype exhaust that no one has heard, especially after the same company had fitment issues with the first iteration. That said, i didn’t expect it would be this bad where they have to remake the entire rear section. I’ve been following the FB page also.

Hopefully the fix arrives on time as promised and resolves the issue. It’s a long time to wait only to be disappointed. Positive is that it does sound good in the clips I’ve heard before the foghorn cuts in.

Well after all this noise, I'm glad I stuck with the original QS exhaust with the cut and weld fix.

Risky, yes. I knew that going in and I don't regret taking a chance, but the way this has all played out has been far from ideal. I'm hoping for Quicksilver's sake that this promised fix isn't just BS though, and it's unfortunate that I even have to consider that possibility.
