Several people? Every vehicle has failures. Forums are where folks mostly come to rant....several is not accurate from my 2 years here. Mustang mt trans has LOTS of failures, new c8’s are dropping valves....we have very few stock related failures as a whole, very few.
1 in 11.5 million (via Google 01/29/2021) people are attacked by a shark. It's rare but tell it to the person being attacked.
I know every single vehicle out there has problems and issues. But, and from just basic mathematics and statistics, certain vehicles have issues more than other vehicles. I believe the problem is that people should be allowed to vent their frustrations and not have mindless sheep defend the brand or vehicle since it hurts their feelings.
Overall, for example, we know that a Lexus is going to be more reliable than a BMW, Ford, or Kia... and many other brands... Yes, a Lexus will have problems here and there, but statistically if I am betting money on reliability my money will go to Toyota/Scion/Lexus over many other brands. But why did I buy the Stinger? Because it was more an emotional than logical/rational purchase plus they come with a really solid warranty from the factory.
But here is where the problem is... if you advertise a vehicle (such as the Stinger) as the incredible new machine that is designed to bring the little garbage Korean brand-name out of the shadows to not only compete BUT POTENTIALLY BEAT the big German and Japanese names... and yet these cars have issues left in right with braking systems and engines and transmissions (on stock cars) it is comical. I am on multiple Stinger/Genesis forums and look how many people are experiencing the "dreaded" warped (not warped) rotor problems. I myself have experienced this problem to no end.
The point I am making, and I saw this even back when I was posting on BMW or Subaru forums, is that it is true that more people come to the forums to vent/complain and seek advice for their issues than to praise the vehicle. I also understand that even the Toyota/Scion/Lexus forums have people complaining about issues there... I get it completely... but certain brands and certain vehicles do have many more problems than others and people should be allowed to voice their opinions and raise their concerns.
My car's MSRP was over $42k and is advertised as the big brand halo car to take on and beat all these other giant names in the industry. There is a bit of a sour taste when you see all these people having problems with their cars (brakes, paint, engines, transmissions, sensors, leaks, etc) and it happens to yourself as well. If I was buying some little Kia Soul or other budget Kia car I wouldn't care at all about having problems because I know it is "just" a Kia and I am buying a regular one. In other words, I would expect issues buying a $15k-$25k regular Kia vehicle... I would not expect issues buying a $30k-$60k halo Kia vehicle...
