Like the subject says. If using 5mm spacers, does one need to replace the OEM studs with extended ones? Or are the OEM lugs long enough to accommodate securely tightenning lug nuts to studs with 5mm space installed? I see a few people have mentioned using 5mm spaces; But none said if they used extended lugs or OEM ones.

I might be mistaken, but I think it’s when using 15mm studs that extensions are needed

5mm does not. Most say 10mm is the biggest. However your hub centric won't work with 5mm

Been running them for a couple years now up front. No need for longer lugs.

Thanks to all. Stock_stinger: what do you mean by "However your hub centric won't work with 5mm"?

Your wheels are hub centric to the cars hub. There's a circle on the wheel that slips over a circle on the car. If you add a spacer, that hub on the car isn't long enough to reach your wheel and the chances of the wheel not centering is high

That’s why you buy a hub centric spacer

Oh. you mean non hub centric spacers. A hub centric one will work just fine.

That's also not what I'm talking about

So what ARE you talking about?

@celwin if you place the spacer on the hub you shouldn't be able to move it around. You should also be able to put it on the wheel and it should have an equally tight fit--no movement in any direction. There are a lot of Stinger owners using spacers on their car without issue.

This is what I'm talking about. The spacer doesn't have a hub centric extension. After adding a 5mm you have no length on the stock hub to reach the wheels pocket.

Sure but with 5mm it doesn’t matter. There’s still some lip left on the hub to Center the wheel.

I have zero vibration with mine.

And if you run a quality hub centric spacer it doesn’t matter as it acts as a hub extension. I ran 10mm front spacers with extended bolts on my Audi with zero issues.

Maybe I'm still misunderstanding. The spacer should be made to fit both the hub on the car and where the hub went into the wheel.
It's usually impossible to find a 5mm with a hub on the front hence my posts. Your talking about a 5mm with an extension

Ahh, so we were talking about the same thing. I didn't realize their rarity.

Generally a 5mm is cake to find but without that extension lip they suck. If you find some with that extension tell me for sure as I'm in

You don’t need it. As I said above, there’s still enough of the hub left to Center the wheel.
