5 things I hate about my Stinger GT

I only need to press mine once and all doors unlock.
I think it is a setting in the car settings. You can have it just unlock the drivers door or unlock all the doors. I always leave mine to just unlock the drivers door.

I don't hate it, but I would have liked the wipers hidden, so they couldn't be seen when in stored position

Hold your right paddle shifter, it will shift up, then to "D". If you have a standard shifter, you can slap it to left from drive, then back and you will get back to "D" too/not sure about GT2 with electric shifter...

I have the Limited (canada) of the GT2 version so ill try holding the right (shift up) paddle shifter.

If that's the case it must have originally been set up that way, because I haven't changed any settings. But good to know.

If I stop, put my car in park and get out while its running and the key is in my pocket, it will not lock from either the button on door handle or the key/fob..
That's what I thought you meant. I've never needed to lock the car whilst its running, so it just seemed strange to me.

I sat in the car and went through the quick start book and the big book learning. I recall seeing a setting for the doors. Found it.............User settings in chapter 4, page 82, 2020 owners manual. You can set it so it does either.

They are "hidden", below the hood, out of the wind. And if you yank up on them you'll chip the paint off the rear edge of the hood. How much more "hidden" are wipers on other cars?

Cheers for that!

I was surprised at all the stuff the car can do if you know you can do it. I can change the colors of the lights in the cabin, right now have violet. I do best with the book in the car, car running, and I just play with the buttons, settings etc. Read what it does do it then know what I do to change that setting.

I did that when I first bought mine, but never needed to change the locking for the door handle button.

My cabin lighting colour is red to match the red interior.

And get 9 MPG average during your learning curve. Hah. :P

After a year and three months, the only thing I "hate" about the stinger is the rattling noise made from the sunroof - why GOD, why!?!? lol
Things KIA should work on:
- automatic windshield wipers (too sensitive and they don't slow down when the rain does)
- paddle shifters (trash)
- speakers (good, should be great but definitely need some refining, controls at least)
- more rim/exhaust options (2021 might have added this)
and a future EV Stinger

Otherwise an amazing car that doesn't get enough credit still.

I don't know why people complain about the gas tank. The range is more than adequate enough in my opinion. I've also had way better mpg highway than what the car is rated for.
Paint hasn't been a problem yet. A cpl paint chip specks on the front bumper and some colored specks (rust?) on the back bumper that you need a magnifying glass to see. The aluminum trim lining that runs along the windows in two spots has very very minor discoloring.

Auto emergency braking/collision warning. I thought it only activated if going under a certain speed limit, not the case a week ago so this could become a serious issue. Does this activate at any speed?

Those are steel, I believe.

My 2 that i can think of right now:
2) I cannot open/close windows in the car with the fob like all other cars have had for decades.

That's a good one. Actually, only my old VW Jetta (a 2010 IIRC) had that feature... Hold LOCK to close every window and moon roof and UNLOCK on the remote to open them all. I loved it... There is no way they can't do that nowadays. For hot days like here in Montreal it's a must!

Other than that, and apart from the small creaks from the moonroof, it's been pretty amazing so far. I don't even mind the fake vents.

I have a GT2 (GT limited in Canada). I'm just happy whenever I drive it.

No way to permanently disable auto start/stop, or change how it works.
actually there is, take a zip tie (black) and snip off the pointed end about 3/4 of an inch......press the @stop button in and press the zip tie tip along side of the switch effectively jamming it between the consol and the switch.....never give auto stop another thought.....I haven't ;it's been over a thousand miles.

Guess I might have to trade up to the Kia van to get the features the Stinger should have received. Hahaha.

On my car there is a rotary switch built into the right hand stalk where you can adjust the sensitivity of the wipers. It even confirms the setting on the screen between the dials!

Is this not standard on the top spec model?

I think his wipers post is an “auto”Function post. Not a setting post.

Its there. I just thought it would be able to detect rain intensity and adjust speed of wipers more on its own.

There comes a time when you are not the driver and just a passenger.......
