If the Stinger didn't exist, what would you have bought?

Well I still don't think other people having the same issue as you means it's a Stinger issue. There are other people like me that don't have this issue. It appears to just be inconsistencies across the production which is a shame and mark against them for sure.

I don't think any issue you experience with lag is going to be turbo related, more throttle mapping than anything. But in eco mode you're not going to get around it, it's mapped that way purposely and would feel that way in pretty much any car in eco mode. I can only go off my personal experience, I've never had an issue with turbo lag in the Stinger. The throttle response can be a little slow if you're used to something lightning quick, but coming from other turbo charged, throttle by wire cars it certainly doesn't feel noticeable to me. In sport mode I don't have any issues at all. Do you have an AWD or RWD model?

I didn't mean for my post to come across as hostile so I apologize if it did. I was just trying to mention some of my experiences as compared to yours.

No offence taken at all. I didn't mean that the cruise control thing was a "Stinger issue", more that it was an issue that the Stinger has (even if it's just the handful of us on here that have it). It's really weird, and nothing I've ever come across or even heard of in any other vehicle.

As for the lag, you're almost certainly correct, I just didn't know how else to describe it. My last car was a manual; it's not so much that I'm used to something lightning quick, but that the response is immediate (at least for whatever gear I'm in). And it had a turbo too (1.4L turbo to be specific), so I (think I) know what turbo lag feels like, but with the Stinger it takes a second to think about it, and then like another half second for the turbo to spool up. It's especially noticeable in eco mode but that's deliberate, but it's there in comfort and sport mode too. Way less of an issue in sport mode though.

An the other car had cruise control too, so if I was at 30mph and pressed resume to like 50mph, it would accelerate up to 35 and then tell me to shift up, and then keep going until it got to 50, asking me to shift up as required. With the Stinger, if I'm at 30kph and tell it to resume to 63kph, it will blow past that to 69/70kph before braking, get to around 45, then do it again and just keep yoyoing until it gets there. It doesn't happen if I'm already close to or past the set point. I have an AWD (all the Canadian models are AWD).

I was waiting for the 2020 Sonata for months but once I saw the Stinger my decision has changed instantly.

Civic Type R. Can’t find good price around the area. Once I test drive the Stinger. That was it. No second thought at all.

Your cruise control issue is strange. I wonder if there's anything they can do for you. My only prior personal experience personally with auto cruise control was my wife's Mitsubishi Outlander and yikes is that system crude.

Slipstream Blue is an awesome name for a color.

WRX STI but I wouldn't pay the premium for the S209 since a tune and aftermarket draw and chassis stiffeners would deliver more performance for less $$ than the crazy markups stealerships are asking.

It sounds to me like you're referring to "tip-in delay" which is annoying as heck - I find it as annoying as rev hang, and when I have cars tuned, I have tip-in delay programmed out altogether if possible, or set to the minimum possible value.

It's a safety feature, where it give you a brief moment to say "D'oh! I hit the wrong pedal!" and back off. I know how to drive, and when I want my car to go now, I want my car to go NOW, DANG IT!

That's how I've adapted to it, unless I'm in sport mode I've simply stopped expecting it to respond immediately. I would just leave it in sport mode, but it always reverts back to comfort mode on engine off.

Simple answer Genesis G70 or the new Genesis G80.

You don't think the G80 would be too big? for me the G70 was a non-starter, it's small, doesn't have a hatchback, and I don't like the taillights. The headlights and the interior are nice, but not enough to sway me from the Stinger.

Size wise G80 is comparable to the Stinger but the trunk doesn't open like our sexy cars.

If you asked me this question 1 year ago I wold have told you Audi S5, Mercedes AMG or BMW M3 but after owning several Germans I am tired of something braking and costing me a testicle or a kidney also oil change for my Porsche is 350 USD, so I say naturally a Genesis product and I hope to buy the upcoming Genesis G80 Sport version its gonna be a blast to drive and the cabin is ultra lux.

Q50-60 Red Sport or a used S5. I was close to pulling the trigger on the Q60 then my buddy whose a big car guy told me to check out the Stinger. I had no interest in buying a Kia but I just happened to drive by a dealer and thought what the hell...I'll check it out. 10 minute test drive completely sold me. 1 year and 10000 miles later and it's without question the best car I've ever owned.

Believe it or not, the only other car I test drove before the Stinger, was a Miata.

I'd been building up the will to pull the trigger on one for months because I'd always wanted a roadster. But as it turned out, given my circumstances I just couldn't justify it. I needed more room and comfort in a daily driver, because I spend a ton of time in my cars for work. I'd had my eye on the Stinger for some time, as an admirer more than a prospective buyer. When I priced it online I was very impressed by the value and practicality of the GT2 relative to the STi, S5, M3, or GS350. It just has immense bang for the buck. It was my first time ever seeing one in the flesh and I was just enamored by the lines and the color. As soon as I test drove it I knew I was making the right call.

As an aside, some households don't even consider Korean cars, but in my family we've never really had a stigma against them either; first new car I ever bought was a 2005 Tiburon (in Electric Blue, pretty similar shade to Micro) and my parents liked it so much they bought a Tucson from the same guy; my brother's owned two different Sonatas as well. I trust that they're gonna hold up and be relatively affordable to maintain.

Genesis made the same mistake that Cadillac did w/ the ATS and sacrificed interior/trunk space for optimal handling.

WB -
111.6" - G70
114.4" - Stinger
118.5" - G80

The majority of buyers in the segment would rather have interior/trunk space and sacrifice some of the tossabiity.
