Hi, @me&stinger and welcome. Numerous practitioners have warned against using a heat gun. A hair dryer is enough. The main risk (even without any paint adhesion issues, as on a few cars) is scratching the clear coat around the badge/script. I'm dexterous and would give it a try: masking around the item to be removed, and keeping the floss or fishing line (not a prying tool!) pulled well up at the edges; never sawing back and forth with the floss/line held low: even with masking, that risks abrading the clear coat. If you doubt yourself at all, have a body shop do it.

Thanks for the warm welcome! :)

Thank you for the tips! My doubt is that I haven't removed emblems before and so I don't know what I'll encounter. I'd hate to start only to end up somewhere in the middle with a raised emblem haha. While I'm planning to, I haven't taken my car for paint correction and ceramic coating. My car is days brand new so I'm hesitant on doing anything to it. I want to keep my car as pristine as it can be for a long time. Ah, the issues of owning a fine Kia Stinger.

Read up on the badge removal discussions. There is a lot about that here! I've followed most or all of them, so at least I know what to expect; and I'm not even going to do it. :P There are a few disastrous stories but most of the DIY stories have turned out well.

Oh boy! I'm in no rush so I'll take your advice and read a bit on members' experiences. I rather be a 100% confident or not do it at all and take it to a professional. I'm more than ok with paying for a service who knows what they're doing. :D

Put the heat gun down, throw away your watch , warming motions with a hairdryer , plenty of goo gone that stuff over time dissolves the 3m tape. If you rush it you'll scratch and damage. I started off with hairdryer, goo gone, dental floss, more goo gone, hairdryer. Later once I made in roads I used light fishing line. After the goo gone has penetrated deep the 3m tape had disappeared. On the front Kia badge I had to use at the end plastic type credit card things to prise the posts out.
Patience.

I took mine to a smash repairer to rebadge, I didn't want to damage the paint in any way. It's best to rebadge first before you do paint protection.
Welcome to the Hive, looks like you're enjoying your new car :)

As you've said, I think it's best that I replace the emblems before paint correct and ceramic coating. I have a place in mind so I'll ask them if they can do the emblems too. There's a part of me that wants to try though. :D

And thank you for the welcome! Each day I drive the car I appreciate it more. :)

totally agree with @me&stinger , the earlier the better ... I did mine a week after delivery, took my time and made sure not to be harsh on the clear coat.

I removed my emblems on a sunny 80° day. I did the first one that was facing the sun, turned car around let it sit for a half hour and did the other one. Fish line cut right through sticky tape with ease at that temperature using slight saw motion back-and-forth all the way around emblem. Then the goo gone does its trick. A small area of paint behind front emblem was slightly damaged while using plastic card to remove tape. I believe that was because the paint in that area under emblem was not completely cured on my 2019. Of course this didn’t matter because the new emblem covered it.

I've decided to have both front ("E") and back ("Stinger") emblems done by a professional.

Because I'm removing the left side "Stinger", it leaves the right side "GT" lopsided. I'm leaning towards removing the "GT" for a balanced look. Just the centered "Stinger" will look slick.

I have received my new E emblem, rear Stinger Script, steering wheel emblem, and Center E caps. The steering wheel and Center caps I know I can do with ease but the badges are a different story. I was going to do it today watching videos but I have been so scared of doing it. I have seen the good and the bad and my mind goes straight to the bad. It stresses me out to think about it.

You left out "and the Ugly". Because that is what happens if you botch it. If you are not confident (with good cause to be) then by all means, spare yourself angst and spend a little cash to get it done by someone who KNOWS HOW.

Power to every one of you who DIY!

I'm less confident in the steering wheel than I am with the front and rear. I decided not to mess with the steering wheel. I was looking at the wheel centerpieces but since I'm shopping around for after market wheels what's the point.

Why don't you just do the overlay? I think the overlay is just fine! There is a new modified one available.
