What is in dealer prep?

My tires weren’t perfect but only a few pounds up or down, not 50. Why are they even so high?

someone stated they put them that high for transport to keep tire from deforming as they really "tie them down hard" to the transport trucks. I suppose that makes sense

It makes a lot of sense. And it explains why there are a few of us in this thread who had pressures of 50 psi or more.

I kept finding those and other tape things for months and months. The last ones, so far, were two long strips on either side of the hatch. Almost invisible. But there they were.

Yep i got all of that too and every box had the tick mark. Even the SD the box that said "install Nav SD card" Sure enough, ticked. Go to drive away, no NAV and no map. Oops, the SD card still in the safe.

My point being, just because its ticked dont mean someone actually did it.

Sadly, this will persist to servicing as well.

I had a vehicle serviced once that when I dropped it in, I knew it had a failed headlight. No worries, they should find it, replace it, and charge me for it, right? I get there in the afternoon to pick the car up, see the service record "checked and confirmed operation of all lights" is checked.

Interesting. I go out to the car, turn on headlights, and sure enough, it's still dead.

I called the service manager over, asked him to explain it. "Oh, it must have failed after we checked". When I explained to him it was dead when I dropped it off, he then tried to make out that I was trying to get a free bulb out of them - after spending $500 on a service (there were some issues, the car was out of warranty by this stage), I was, apparently, trying to weasel may way out of paying for a $25 light bulb.

Needless to say, they didn't service the car ever again, and have never and will never get any of my servicing business through any of their chain of dealerships - and that was close to 20 years ago now.

First pick up at Dealership was awful, rubber in sunroof damaged, apparently pecked by birds and scratches and swirl marks all over it. Made more apparent because paint protection " protectiv" had been applied. We did not accept car, they wanted to " fix it " for us by sending it to a panel beater. When you buy " new " that's the condition you expect it to be in. We ended up asking for " another new car " so they sourced another one from Interstate and we waited another couple of weeks.
This time we asked for it not to be washed, it was going to the detailer after " as is " as he advised so it wouldn't get scratches put on it from people at the service department using dirty cloths/ sponges and incorrect washing techniques.
Took it to detailer, he took one look and said " it has been washed somewhere along the line " as he pointed out fine scratches which he advised were made by a brush. It took four days of paint correction to prepare the car for the PPF and Ceramic coating. It also had one of the worst cases of Calcium build up he had seen and there was tape left on it in places.
