Black Chrome Discoloring

I'll bet its burnt from an inexperienced oribtal operator

I have the same issue, which looks like oxidation in my case. Reminds me of silver plated tea sets where the coating has disintegrated. In my case, the problem is where I have touched the trim on the top part of the door while shutting the door daily. It looks odd as the car is otherwise pristine.

I'll have to see what mine looks like when properly cleaned, there is some nastiness to it right now, likely from decontamination. Luckily, the front has not been touched by a detailer since it has stone guard on the hood/fender, and my fender vents were properly masked by me before hitting the car with the DA polisher.

Did you have discoloring like some of the pictures?
To be honest I couldn't tell what was going on in the pictures. But in my case it had permanent-looking corroded type of spots all over the chrome finish.

"Corroded" spots!? Are you saying that you could feel the spots? And that Mother's knocked them down and took them out?

That's the way that they appear. But you wouldn't feel it to the touch.

So, super nasty looking stains, then. How much "elbow grease" did you have to use to get the chrome back to pristine? (I'm just borrowing trouble, looking ahead; my chrome still looks really good.)

A fair amount. My back was sore after doing the front.

have you tried cleaner wax ? I had really bad spotting and removed it with no major rubbing and it maintains it spot free for several washes as well megs.webp

Here is what my trim looks like, the spots are actually fragments of the remaining coating.

I think you may be covered by warranty, worth a try.

I would try the trim restorer before bringing it in...looks can be deceiving
Is'nt that trim product for plastic and rubber , I used it on the black plastic trim on my X6 and it was great .

I am having the same problem on my side trims...it is at the dealership right now so we will see what they do for me.

The front chrome pieces are totally fine.
