3.3TT BMS METH KIT REVIEW AND OPINIONS

I got the kit installed yesterday. I posted some pictures on the JB4 thread.
I got everything from BMS except the tank, I used a AEM 1 gallon tank that I bought from a friend.
Ironically, we had a small leak problem with that tank at the "L push" connection with the hose.
Anyway, for the install there seem to be 3 decisions to make:
1. Where to place the tank
- inside the trunk area
- below the trunk floor next to the battery (O)
2. Where to route the wires
- inside the cabin and enter the engine bay by going through the passenger firewall
- under the car and enter the engine bay from the front fender (O)
3. Where to place the solenoid
- next to the JB4
- fixed to the wheel well panel using a custom bracket (O)

I will ask a friend to make a custom floor with an opening door to refill meth without having to lift the whole thing.

Very strong acceleration. I must be careful because the rear tyres tend to lose grip easily now. I can't wait the warmer days of spring to test it further, but I love it so far.

OK, after a week I can say that I am extremely pleased by the kit.

I did a small test from 100 to 200km/h (62.1mph to 124.2mph), on a closed circuit:

My car has absolutely no mod except the Jb4 with the WMI kit.

Can you post some pictures please?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I posted a bunch of pics in the JB4 thread, have you seen them?
No I will look there, thanks I figured you would post them here on this thread.

The JB4 for sure and I believe LAP3 piggy back boxes allow for integration of WMI systems. They make the necessary adjustments required to boost, fuel, etc.

So an ECU tune is not a requirement for WMI. To my knowledge the ECU tunes do not nativity support WMI at this point. You could add WMI to an ECU tune by adding JB4 or perhaps there are other methods as well.

What is the point of installing the meth kit, when you can't tune the car ?!?

I don’t know if should give you a winner badge or not lol.

The JB4 has a dedicated map for WMI. Map 8 is specifically tuned to run wmi. There some values that are adjustable but it allows for the integration.

To answer your question there is a point to install wmi in our cars.

I am not sure if you tune for wmi on an ecu tune but you can get an ecu tune and run a JB4 combo to run your wmi.

FYI there is a lot info on this forum on WMI and the JB4. I believe Lap 3 pro tuner can run WMI but I am not familiar with lap 3 or heard of anyone running wmi on lap 3 yet.

For the price of the lap 3 protuner , you can buy a JB4 and a wmi kit from BMS.

There is no fail safe feature on the ProTuner.
During hard acceleration if meth is not spraying correctly you can blow your engine.

I meet quite often with guys that have the ProTuner with WMI kit.
Before racing these guys always open their hood and test if their methanol is spraying.

Here is bms meth kit installed. You have to make a bracket. I did the 1 gallon stealth tank and ran the lines under the car. You can daily map 8 no problem. She only sprays wot. You wont use much daily driving. As for performance gains. If your running an octane boost or e30 there are none. map 8 is the slip on the right. An hour later I ran map 5 with e30.
Times are nearly identical and temps were on the rise. If your running a 93 Oct map you will get a performance bump because meth with boost your octane obviously. Paid 6 and change for the full kit and $400 to install. For $1000 I got arguably no performance benefit as I was already running an octane enhancer.

Good info, but performance increase probably depends on your climate and current DA more than anything though... I can't imagine April in NY is very hot so you're probably not even heatsoaking yet. Yesterday it was 88 degrees here (2700DA) and my car felt pretty slow.

Off topic, but have you tried launching in 2nd gear instead of 1st? It seems your car should be going a little faster in the 1/8th, wondering if the 1-2 shift is cutting throttle or something

We were in the mid 60s that day. Meth doesnt cool your car pre run. It only cools on the way down the track. If your heat soaked your heat soaked it's not gonna change things. I dont believe you can use launch control while in 2nd gear and if you could I'm pretty sure it would just make your 60ft worse.

When I checked with Lap3 they informed me that the meth map does have a fail safe built in.

You sure can! Wouldn't hurt to try it, you never know. It reduced my 0-60 time by ~0.1 seconds or so

help me out with this, in order to leave in 2nd youd have to be in manual mode?? I know that launch control doesnt work in manual mode as I've tried. So how would you get into 2nd gear in auto. Either way I'm not interested it would no doubt hurt my 60 ft a taller gear isnt gonna help. I'm awd btw no spin here.

All I do is put it in sport with TC/SC off, then once I'm stopped I step on the brake, click the right-hand paddle shifter and it shifts into 2nd. Then, mash the gas and launch control engages.
