Convince Me To Keep My Stinger GT1

And you didn’t like it, I loved my K900. I hope they bring some of the tech from the new one into the Stinger. Love that camera system for the turn signals(reminds me of Honda but KIA added it to both driver and passenger mirrors).

So the camera image from under the side mirrors show up in the center screen? For both sides? I loved that feature in the Honda... never had to turn my head for shoulder check any more.

It’s a nice car, I’d rather just have a G80 Sport. I don’t like the exterior, and the ride wasn’t as comfortable as the G80 Sport. The interior of the K900 is insane though.

Yes for both sides but, it shows up in the dash.

Watched a couple of your vids on YT...... didn't seem as disparaged as you seem here.....options are plenty and no vehicle is perfect.....will be interested to see how things turn out for you

Thanks for watching! Definitely do tune in lol because I myself am interested to see how everything goes.

[Update] Today I went to go test drive the 2019 RC350 F-Sport and man oh man is the styling beautiful for the refreshed 2019. Much more elegant and close to LC coupe-like exterior style. Anyhow, as I were test driving it, it was super smooth but I really missed the power delivery of the Stinger lol. I like how throaty the V6 sounded though but that can be rectified if I end up keeping the Stinger and adding the Borla exhaust to it.

But overall: me and wife got tired of how cramped it was inside and felt kind of 'cocooned.' Add that to the fact that the Lexus sales-guy kept spamming about how reliable they were and how 'roomy' it was in the backseat when I can tell by his face that he was just waiting for me to get out of the car lol. He told me to slow down as I was doing an acceleration run on Sport + and only going 60. o_Oo_O

I learned today that casual people do not know what a Kia Stinger is LOL. I told him how much the Stinger was and he was like 'no KIA is that expensive' :cautious:

But yeah...

Gonna text my KIA salesguy and tell him I want to test drive the GT2.

Yeah that GT2 is the way to go I'm seeing.....360* camera, QI wireless charging and heated rear seats are nice additions this year.....I'm gonna wait a bit to see if the rumored k900 instrument cluster is coming into the 2020 model

Haven't read every post, but I wonder if the GT *without* the electronic suspension might give a softer ride?

I personally find my GT2 to be as comfortable as my ex gf's CLS400, and a lot more comfortable than my Sorento.

I'll have to take an hour road trip from here and see if wife is still nagging on about the back. Since I posted this thread, I've made her adjust her seating position a bit (not too high and I told her to raise the lower leg portion of the seat and keep the back end lower so her leg can just stay there if that makes sense) and she's been telling me it feels much better now.

The K900 cluster coming to the Stinger would be a turn-off, at least for me. Because that instrument cluster looks exactly like the LCD displays you can find in modern BMWs (540 for example) and that camera function mimics the S-class and its just straight copying imo. I like the gauges we have now but that's just me.

Which gen CLS400?

Anywho, I reckon the base GT without the variable suspension would be rougher ride because its automatically set to be the sporty-ish setting? I'm just guessing here don't take my word for anything, lol.

Its not like there's a noticeable difference between comfort and sport setting anyway. Lol they feel too similar.

2019 RC350 F-Sport

Besides the badge and exterior styling, those are a little disappointing. And that's before I tried the stinger, now the RC350 feels irrelevant.

I mean, I'd take one if it was free, then trade it in at the kia dealership...

That would be really cool, if I were a walking Stinger manual. :p:D Alas, not remotely the case, or ever will it be.
You're the closest thing we've got, please change your title to Merlin the manual:D:D

But isn't nearly all creature comforts stolen from others and implemented into your own?

If the feature works and is useful, it is most likely that others will implement it. You might call it copying but guess what, every manufacturer does it at some level. Someone innovates, it's useful, others follow, it becomes an option and later even a standard feature. Remember things like seat belts, ABS, traction control, heated seats weren't always available, now you can find them on almost every vehicle.

Always trade the wife and keep the car. Always.

If anyone wants to start drama about what I drive, there's the door. I'm not going to meowify my whip just for some controlling meow at home.

You're comparing safety features to aesthetic features. I have no problem with manufacturer getting ideas from another and innovating on their own but that K900 instrument panel is straight up copying the instrument panel from BMW. They modified it so that it differs by adding that camera feature found in the S-class. Again, this is nice but I wish KIA just innovated or did something that we haven't seen before from other manufacturer. Lexus has their own LFA inspired LCD display. Audi has their virtual cockpit. And so forth.

No need to get defensive now. Its all a matter of taste. :) I prefer the gauges we have now.

In just normal, straight ahead driving you can't really tell a difference between Sport and Comfort. But start corning at speed and there is a definite difference.

LOL! If only I felt that way inside my own head. But, my daily mantra is: "I know practically nothing, about almost everything." (Note the word "almost";):D)

"Stolen", oh that word. Cribbed, copied, borrowed, implemented; any of those words are better. The reason why upper tier vehicles share so many of the same features is because of capitalism, thank the good Lord. If you invent something, others will run with it. Only in a control freak world can innovation be stymied.

Definitely! I was referring to the comfort level. In sport mode, cornering is excellent. Just that Stingers like to twerk their ass a little lol

Anywho, when I was getting groceries this morning, there was a cop nearby. When I came back to the car, he was checking it out and asked how much the Stinger was. He was surprised. I thought he was gonna ticket me for something. Lol

Hard for me to believe the harsh ride....might just be the tires...I have the Pilot Sport 4's and they ride great. I traded an AMG Mercedes in that had Continental run flats that rode really rough.....especially in comparison.
I test drove the G70 the other day and it is definitely a step up in the inside. I must assume the seats will be more comfortable...but you definitely lose the hatchback...and significant trunk space.

Not getting defensive, pointing out what is a fact in the industry. These days a lot of cars are going with a digital instrument panel, be it for cost or other reason, it is happening and over time that will most likely become the norm. Look at the Telsa Model 3, no IP in front of the driver, all the info is contained in the central screen. With the advent of new technology, manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to innovate and compete, Hyundai/KIA would be foolish to not do the same. We may not initially like the changes but we eventually adopt them.

This "highly qualified" youtube automotive journalist sold his Stinger GT to get into a much better and higher quality G80.
