Convince Me To Keep My Stinger GT1

K900 might be best!

I always love using launch control from a red light and looking at the small cars in my rearview mirror. :)
I'm getting better at that. It's a gas! :D

I dont find my Stinger that stiff and actually think it rolls alot compared to my BMW. That said, just get something like a C class (not AMG).

The GT1 has real leather, not "faux" leather. As has been said here, it's probably the tire itself, it has almost no give. Maybe go try driving an AWD Stinger equipped with 18"s at the dealership you bought your car from and see if you can tell any difference.

There could also be an issue with your suspension being stiffer than it's supposed to be. Or maybe you just need a really soft ride, I doubt you're going to find a car as fast as this one for anywhere near the price that has a more comfortable ride.

You can try out 18 inch wheels but that probably won’t be that much of a difference. You should drive a G80 Sport. I test drove one and loved it. Most comfortable car I’ve ever driven. Seats are very nice, ride is very smooth and super quiet and you get the Stinger 3.3T in it.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
If someone can actually prove to me the GT2 is actually less stiff than the GT1 I'll be willing to test drive it and swap out LOL
Are you the YouTuber? Too many coincidences to not be haha ...long drive, engaged, 440 m sport, white GT1, from Atlanta... Yay or nay?

I have heard the Cadenza is a darn comfy ride too. Not like the K900, but very comfy and much cheaper (and better looking, though not close to as good looking as the Stinger)

Man , if they only made Cadenza in AWD dressing.....

If I were to get a replacement for the Stinger, it would be something that's sport-oriented so the K900 would be out of the list. But anyhow, interesting take on the tires contributing. I thought that tires affected road noise and grip but not so much as comfort and harshness of ride but I guess the thin rubber would explain that fact. I do have the MPS4 tires which came standard. Maybe after this I'll switch over to Michellin A/S 3.

My tire PSI is around 36-38 all around as I haven't adjusted them for the winter. But I'll try adjusting the seats more. I wish I had bought the GT2 so it has the thigh extender and the passenger gets the lumbar support.

No to K900 but I'll definitely try adjusting the seats a little bit more.

I'm gonna test drive the cars on the list that I mentioned but other than that I'll probably adjust the seats and see what works out for me. Replacing this car is the last resort though.

For some reason I've never been in love with the G70. Stinger all the way lol.

I'm 26 but I've fell from a flight of stairs and landed on my back and it hasn't been the same since so my back is very sensitive. When I first got the Stinger, I noticed that the first two months within owning it that the tire PSI's were at 50 and I reduced it to 38 even.

Luckily I've never had to have many people ride on the Stinger. To this day, there has only been about a dozen times where the backseat have been utilized for carrying people and those are for very short trips (think bringing nieces to malls and all that lol)

G70 is arguably less sexy than the Stinger, if I'm being very honest and subjective.

I am on the MPS4 tires and it just occurred to me that might be the contributing factor to all this. But I'm going to have my wife adjust the seats a little more to see if it would help. I'm 26 and I'm embarrassed to have posted this thread, honestly. I sound lame lol.

These are out of the question though, they absolutely don't appeal to me at all. Thank you for the input though. Always appreciated.

I'll go ahead and have her try the seat adjustments. Maybe she's putting the seat WAY too high and too 'straight up'.

Stinger is best compared to a Muscle car IMO. Its just a rocket from hell lol. I always love using launch control from a red light and looking at the small cars in my rearview mirror. :)

I'll try the GT2 just for curiosity sake. Who knows? Maybe I have a bad suspension LOL.

Never interested in Genesis honestly.

I WISH I gotten an GT2 so I can have the full seat adjustments available. I honestly do. Small things like the thigh extension and the bolstering adjustments mean a lot (at least they do in my 440i lol). I do 40 miles commute daily and I've put about 9000 miles in my 6 months of owning it and while I love how it drives it just that sometimes it feels a little unbearable on longer trips. But AGAIN maybe its how I adjusted the seats that's the problem.

I never use the Audio because I like hearing the throaty acceleration sound in sport mode, lol. Maybe that's just me. But I'll try it though.

And I always thought that its weird I'm posting this..because its weird..

I told her to play with the seat adjustments and we'll see how that works out.

Yes there about 36-38 all around. In different places lol. I forgot to adjustment since winter.

Reacting to some of the... reaction. Those seat thigh adjustments were one of the main reasons I ended up buying the GT2. My wife is all about the seats - even though she doesn't drive the car nearly as much as I do. That was her only "request" on the purchase (that, and the HiChroma Red), and wanted her buy-in. I originally wanted the GT1 - most of the amenities without all the nannies, but I was glad I ended up with the GT2. Also, from a comfort standpoint, AWD was a must-have for me and I test drove both the 19" w/ the high-performance Pilots, and the 18" AS's. The 18" are a better fit as a DD, IMO - a bit more compliant ride. I realize I'm giving up a bit of performance vs. the 19"s - but not that much. Happy with my GT2 setup.

Thigh extension was a big thing for.me too. That and the 16 pt adjusted nappa leather seat with heat and ventilation

Yup. My first car with vented seats. Even though I live in the north country, for summer... don't know how I lived without 'em.

I'm afraid when I was buying the Stinger, I thought that since it was supposed to be designed as a GT car, that it would be a compliant ride no matter if I got the RWD or the AWD. I chose not to get AWD because where in Atlanta AWD really isn't needed.

When I bought the Stinger, my wife's request was that we get the red interior, everything else she didn't care for. Since the dealer only had one red interior Stinger at the time, regardless of which GT trim it was, we got the Snow White which was GT1. And from there on I thought to myself that all of the features that I would be missing out (the HUD, Power Tailgate, LSD was on my mind back then) wasn't worth the extra dollar and now I am regretting every second of it.

I am going to definitely try to the GT2 this Saturday and really pay attention to the ride quality compared to my GT1, if its noticeable difference then I'll take the GT1 to service to get the suspension taken look at.

When I get on my 440i, the first thing I do is extend the thigh extension and adjust the bolstering.

I hate you guys now. Because you make me feel bad.

If I was you, talk to the person/s who convinced you to buy the Stinger GT1, then they may be able to reinforce to you why you should be convinced to keep it.

Not at all! I'm actually subbed to see how the chapters progress :), I live in cobb so it was cool to see some local content. Keep working at it. That said, I'm not an owner yet, but just wanted to see other driver's experiences. I'm trying to patiently wait for the off lease deals to start hitting the market.

Lincoln Continental? Failing that, a used/older Rolls Royce is going to be the softest ride you can get.

That's so cool! Nice to know that you subbed and every sub that i get right now means the world to me, lol. If there's anything you want to see on the channel or improvements that I can do, shoot me a DM on Instagram (@Carchapter) or on Youtube and that'll get the channel to be better. I know quality is pretty bad-ish but I'm learning. Haha!

Despite me making this thread, the Stinger is a BLAST to drive. That launch acceleration is insane and I can't imagine how much crazier it'll get if I put JB4 + CAI + Downpipes + Borla Exhaust.

I might as well get an ES350, lol. :cautious:

Watched a couple of your vids on YT...... didn't seem as disparaged as you seem here.....options are plenty and no vehicle is perfect.....will be interested to see how things turn out for you

About the only thing I can think of that will definitely help with suspension compliance for your situation is a bigger tyre. Maybe even some 17s with a 55series tyre. That will definitely absorb some of the shock but unfortunately comes with its own set of compromises. It will sacrifice handling quite a bit and maybe look a little silly.
The stingers suspension is quite odd, it's like it can't quite decide what it what's to be, it is fairly floaty but then horrible over undulating roads like a car with super stiff suspension.
As for body roll that doesn't really affect how a car reacts to bumps. It's all in the shocks, springs and tyres and obviously the body mass.
Have you tried making more pit stops to try and give your back a rest? As others have mentioned check your tyre pressure, I had 48psi in 3 tyres and 32 in the other.
Put them at 38 and holding steady for weeks.
I'd recommend trying around 32psi and see how that feels.
