Will the 2022 Kia Stinger GT2 Scorpion Edition be the most valuable Stinger?

I have the opportunity to buy a slightly used GT2 Scorpion Edition Stinger and although it's a little higher than another '22 GT2. Would it be worth it in the long run?

The only one that might worth more than others is GTS one, especially awd.

i hope so! :D

- nicer-looking wheels ... although i'm not a fan of black wheels, they're still better than the alternative stock wheels, IMHO
- carbon fiber trim ... never really dealt with it, but the standard aluminum(?) trim looks easy to scratch
- wing ... always thought the rear of the Stinger was a bit awkward-looking, until i saw the Scorpion wing on it. again, just my opinion

i wouldn't spend too much of a premium on it ... the Scorpion package brand new was only a $1295 option

Yellow and Atlantica were made in very small numbers too.

Like Landshark said, you would hope so. But will it? No way of knowing if the Stinger is even going to be in demand by enthusiasts when you go to sell, and what gas prices will be, and how the current Stinger will stack up against the EV rivals in the future.

Buy the car because you want it, not as an investment. Assume you'll lose your shirt when it comes time to trade in. The past couple years are a fluke, cars rarely hold value let alone appreciate. Top trims are often not worth proportional resale later on, it largely depends if something unique to the top trim is desirable and unavailable in the lower trims (like a larger infotainment screen, safety tech, etc). Cosmetic upgrades rarely translate into much increased value.

Thank you all for the replies. I definitely want one of these but since I really just started my research in the last couple months, just wondered what some current owners thought. I do have a '93 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 and next year it is an antique. I've owned in from the start and obviously it's been a long time, but definitely obvious that the VR-4 is much more valuable than the lower level versions. I do wish I would have traded in mine in '99 to get the last release of the 3000GT--those were only produced for about 6 months and are far more valuable than the earlier years.

Anyway, my goal is to enjoy the new Stinger now and also have something that in 20-30 years might be considered a rare collectible.

So, with all that being said--if I don't go for the Scorpion Edition, is there a huge difference between the GT-1 & GT-2? I know 2023 only has the base and the GT-2, but I've been finding some '22 GT-1's and seem to be a good deal.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

if guessing games is our entertainment, my guess is the federation orange d-awd will be the collector's choice.

The Stinger's best attribute, what sets it apart from and/or keeps it competitive, is the drivetrain. If it's going to be collectible, simply having the 3.3TT engine is the biggest factor. AWD is a plus, but not everyone wants/needs that (I do think AWD for traction at launch is a huge bonus).

The 3 more rare specs are going to be the GTS, the sunset yellow, and the Scorpion. Indigo Blue is a back up option as well. The Sunset yellow stingers will probably take a hit due to the paint issues (even if it was corrected it could deter buyers). This leaves the battle between the Scorpion and GTS. My guess is over time the GTS will be more valuable than the Scorpion. However, the Scorpion package is a great package and full of goodies that I wish my Stinger came with. I especially love the carbon fiber parts and the black wheels.

The '22 GT-1 is somewhat of a step backward from previous years. Unlike previous years, you don't get the Harmon Kardon stereo, the 7-inch center screen, memory seats, cooled seats or front parking sensors. It is essentially a 2021 GT with the new headlights and a sunroof.

The Scorpion is basically just a cosmetically upgraded GT2. I like the Scorpion spoiler also, but unless there is something about the wheels I don't know about, the Scorpion is not worth much more than the regular GT2 AWD.
The 2022 GT2 is totally worth the difference over the GT1, in my opinion.
By the way, the 3000GT VR4 is a sweet car, was just looking at them last night.

i got mine for less than the GT2's around here. in fact, the KIA dealership i bought it from did not even advertise it as a Scorpion, and i didnt know it was until i laid eyes on it.

Like most have said, a car is a want, not an investment. That being said Gt2 vs GT1 in my opinion, is just fancy technology. I want a gt for the 3.3, after that didn't mean much to me. Your headlights might follow the road, but to me thats one more electrical component that can break, and cost a bit more than your standard headlight.

Yeah more stuff is definitely more stuff that can break. This was my exact line of thinking as well. The base GT 3.3TT has all the basic tech. Other than cooled seats during the summer, I can't think of anything else I'm wanting. I spend almost no time staring at the infotainment screen, so even the larger/better screen would be wasted on the likes of me.

That's tight. Aurora Black Pearl? Red seats?

to each their own if you like the stinger with the 2.0, I just couldn't do it. Like buying a base model mustang to me.

V6 Mustangs are blasphemy.

I didn't buy the 2.0

I had a V6 camaro, and it was fine for my needs at the time (and gas was expensive then). The V6 was also a lot cheaper than the 6.2L .

But... I couldn't help but wonder if I would have enjoyed the 6.2L more. And that was the whole time owning it. So I entered the Stinger purchase with only the 3.3TT in mind.

If getting a performance minded car, IMHO get the performance minded drivetrain. Otherwise, just get anything else.

There's no way you wouldn't have enjoyed the V8 more.
I definitely agree about getting the performance minded drivetrain.
