My wife and I are seriously considering moving down to Sarasota next June and I was hoping those who live in that area could help us narrow down our search radius. Coming from Chicago, safety is number one. I want my wife to feel safe walking the dog. Wife wants to be close to a Publix lol. We don't need to be super close to the beach although no more than 20 min would be ideal. Would like to be close to restaurants and entertainment. We are looking to buy a detached, single family property and our budget is pretty flexible. Properties really close to the beach are out of our price range. Thank you for any suggestions :thumbup:

Move safety down to 3 or 4 and find your happy place. There's crime in Anarctica, Florida is no different.

Yeah I guess I'm probably putting too much emphasis on safety but coming from this crime infested crap fest, it's hard not to have that in the forefront. Would rather not have to CC just walking the dog like I do now. I guess moving anywhere will be better crime wise than were we are now...except maybe LA or NY. But you're right, crime is everywhere just not in the abundance we have here. Looking forward to leaving it in the rearview.
