Who will update to the facelift Stinger?

You bring up a good point on the EVs, seems like a number of manufacturers are planning on launching EV or Plug-In Hybrids for the '22 model year. I like the look of that updated Santa Fe and hope they will bring it with 19" wheels and not 17s (and FWD only) like on the Sorento. I saw the release of the Korean Sorento Hybrid AWD with 19" wheels and had that on my short list but now, it's off unless they have a Plug-In with AWD (and 19s). That Hyundai Ioniq 5 looks nice, might be similar in size to the Audi E-TRON, can’t tell for sure but we will learn more soon. Fun times ahead.
I've been thinking for a decade+ that my current gas powered car was to be my last, but quality EVs (and the infrastructure needed) just never fully caught on. 2021-2022 might finally be the year based on the influx of new models already rolling out or are scheduled to be. There's certainly more charging stations now that 10 years ago, too.

Hearing good things about the Mustang Mach E and waiting to see the GT version. The E-Tron looks nice, but don't have E-tron $$ LOL! Any other EVs one would consider if not sticking with the Stinger? Of course, Tesla is always in play and should be really affordable then...also Volvo...

Lol, of course money is the wall between me and this (well, and possibly availability):

The new Kia EV will do 0 tp 0-60 in 3 seconds, definitely amazing.

No it won't.

It's Kia's version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 which gets to 60 between 8.5 and 5.5 seconds depending on configuration.

Do you have a source for your information?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It was "confirmed" that there is a performance variant in the work with Albert Bieman that will get 0-60 in less than 3.5s .

Kia CV Rendering Ahead Upcoming Teaser - Korean Car Blog

I see why you put "confirmed" in quotes. I hate those kinds of blog posts. Let's see what Kia announces when they make their announcement.

Assuming Kia does build such a variant, I wonder how they'll price it. I'm thinking astronomically.

Im not really a car guy but dont electric vehicles get amazing torque or something? I mean all of Teslas are insane. The Model S says it can do 0-60 in 1.99 seconds, Model 3 in 3.1s, Model X in 2.5.

Model S is $80k at 3.1 secs, and 1.99 at $120k+. Model 3 is mid 40s at 4.2 secs and mid 50s at 3.1 secs. Model X is 90k at 3.8 and $120k at 2.5.

Kia and Hyundai should be able to do a 3-3.5 sec 0-60 EV and keep it mid 40s Id guess. Any higher and people are probably going to go with Tesla and others that might be more established.

I would guess the performance variant to be north of 60k. We are not talking about Model 3 size here more closer to Model X....

I am going to miss the sound of a roaring exhaust lmfao! :p

I think Kia building an EV that can do 0-60 in 3.5 is very realistic... but it depends on if there is a serious market for it...

The more EV's in the market the better though... makes the price of EV cars more affordable since it reduces the chance of certain brands creating a monopoly...

Realistically... My Stinger is probably the last combustion based vehicle I am going to be driving... I plan to keep it for ten years while under warranty then sell it... by then I will be in my mid/late 30's and probably buying a none-hybrid or none-electric vehicle brand new will be either impossible or illegal in the USA...

I agree. I'm resigned to the fact that my Stinger will be my last combustion engine vehicle. And if there are credible rumors of an EV Stinger by the time I'm ready to purchase, I may decide to lease instead until it's ready.

This has that Stinger-like profile. Will love to see this in person.

Then how will you "sell" yours? :P

I said "brand new" so what I meant was people could sell buy/sell their used cars... but I feel that the law will eliminate new vehicles... the used market will still have combustion-based cars... like how we have classics being sold today...

My prediction, and it breaks my heart, is sometime in 2030 something all new vehicles from the factory will be either hybrid or electric... but the used market will still have combustion based vehicles... :D

I guess the silver-lining is perhaps it will make certain supercars I want to own more affordable in the future... one of my dream cars has been the Gallardo... 1st or 2nd generation doesn't matter... seeing one of those for the first time at 16 is what made me start getting into cars... it sounds silly but seeing one of those drive by the bus I was taking to work sparked motivation for me to push myself to "someday" drive something cool and fast...

I think in a decade when 99% of the population are hippies and are all about electrics/hybrids supercars will be much cheaper... heck maybe I could pick up a Huracan in good condition for a fair price by then... doubt it though... I should be saving up for my own place... cant be renting forever...

Unlikely. There is a huge problem right now dealing with extraction and processing of rare earth metals. Unless the West gets super chummy with China, and opens up Greenland and other areas to extraction those targets are going to be improbable to hit.

Who will let this happen in their back yard?
