Oh God, I came here to let everyone know that I'm hearing an rapidly oscillating rumble when breaking [1.5k miles after Kia turned them] only to discover that the sunroof rattle is a thing. I heard it this morning and wasn't quite sure if it was the sunroof. I closed the cover and haven't heard it since.

In regards to the brake problem, they only turned the front rotors, but they didnt even take the rear ones off or at least I never saw them. The rear ones looked untouched as well. The front rotors were clearly shaved and the rear was the same dark grey instead of shiny silver afterwards. They were reluctant to have me in the garage for too long. Guess they don't want me to catch them in the act of f*cking up cars.

I'm 14 months in 18000 miles, what are the odds rotors would be covered under warranty?
Just started vibration when braking.

The warranty is for 12 months and 12k miles.

My 2019 with 2,200 miles has a roughness which is definitely a pad on rotor thing but I wouldn't say the rotors are warped. I also notice that after I drive the car for a while it goes away. If it doesn't get worse I'll live with it and first brake change switch to a different pad/rotor setup. I'd prefer noise and brake dust to pulsing or shuddering brakes

If pads and rotors are not seated properly they will warp , shake , pulse etc. did you do proper pad and rotor break in?

The OE brakes are bedded in before delivery.

Merlin, I don't believe this is true. Do you have a reliable print source for this info?

Thanks!

I think a little clarification is needed. Only the brake linings (pads) are warrantied for 12 months in the literature, and that is only in the case of improper function. From what I gather from further warranty reading, brake rotors themselves, are under the standard 5yr/60k mile warranty. I am sure that actual experiences will vary though. Hopefully dealers are working with people on this.

I seen bits and pieces of info around the forum, has anyone confirmed that the EVO brake pads are compatible parts for the Stinger GT fronts?

No. I read it here. But the manual says: "Avoid hard stops, except in emergencies, to allow the brakes to seat properly." (page 1 | 5, "Vehicle break-in Process") Over on page 5 | 42, the manual says: "Abnormal deformation and wear of parts are attributed to excessive high-speed repetitive braking even if Brembo brake is equipped. All this causes vibration when braking. A driver should observe the speed limit to prevent damage to the brake caused by excessive braking. Warranty does not apply when brake deformation occurs due to excessive high-speed repetitive braking, track driving or racing."

So what is implied in the manual is: "normal" driving practices will not create the kinds of complaints described here. "Normal" is Kia's prerogative to define. They can actually deny any brake warranty claim based on what they see. We do know that entire rotors and pads have been replaced on individual Stingers, even somewhat past the 12K mile warranty cutoff; simply because a "good will gesture" was extended in those cases where no abuse of the brakes could be shown when their performance had deteriorated for no known cause. But to "drive it like you stole it" will net you nothing but shaking heads when your brakes head south.

From the factory, the brakes are ready for use under "normal" driving conditions. They shouldn't need "bedding in". Just drive the damn car, "don't try and stand it on its bloody ear". :D I've got over 18K miles on my OE system and it is still almost "like new". I've hit the brakes hard a few necessary times. The rest of the time, I may drive fast, but I don't slow down fast.

Boy does anybody read there owners manual anymore. It says right in there brakes need to be properly seated.

According to the dealer and the VIP costumer service line. Brakes are warrantied for 1 year or 12k miles. That includes pads, rotors, linings, etc. That is the info given to me when I called the VIP line to have them order replacement rotors and pads for mine 800 miles past the 12k. Which they kindly approved.

I bedded mine know problems yet. And I drive like a maniac .getting ready for 3rd set of back tires next month haven’t even hit 10000 miles yet.

If you bought your car went out on the streets and hauled ass around stabbing brakes you will have problems from not bedding properly. Good luck all

So if you took your car off the lot and drove it like a good samaritan, then technically you don't need to do a bedding process as normal driving conditions would do it for you? And the same goes for when changing new rotors and pads? The average consumer wouldn't even know about bedding and it's definitely something the dealership won't inform you about or warn you of.

Where still talking about kia. They have come far. But most owners of this car know more then the dealers. I’ve noticed. All high end brakes kits need to be bedded I’m know matter what car you have them on.

Where? All I see is one sentence "Avoid hard stops, except in emergencies, to allow brakes to seat properly". I haven't done a single hard stop yet.
