I have a few GTO's and this popped up in my facebook feed. I enjoyed reading the comments. The Stinger gets some respect.Stinger VS.webp

With the six-speed manual transmission, Motor Trend was able to propel the GTO from 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds and sprint the quarter mile in 13.62 seconds at 104.78 miles per hour.

They really aren’t that fast anymore. HP numbers have come a long way in 10+ years.

That must be 2004 GTO numbers. 05 & 06 is closer to stock Stinger performance (0-60 in 4.6 and 1/4 in 13).

Biggest issue I had with my 06 is wheel hop. They have some serious rear suspension bounce when you floor it from a stand still. That gives the Stinger a chance to pull away quickly.

The "Kia shock" is what is consistent. Even if one of these "hotter" cars wins it won't be by much and that alone will shock some sensibility into them. :D

He says it's an 06... but the Stinger could have also been modded with a piggyback or a tune which makes them also faster than stock.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
At least the guy is humble and not hating. LOL, he seems pretty cool.

I was always a Pontiac fan. I had two Trans Ams, an '84 305 T-top that got me through college and then a '95 LT1 6-Speed convertible a year or so after graduating. There was also that hand me down '91 teal Sunbird convertible with white pleather interior and white rims that I don't like to mention all that much

I have often thought that the last year (2009) Trans Am WS6 convertible would be a decent investment vehicle but I have no room, have a family, etc. So I have a Stinger.

Ah, the US-spec Monaro. :)

The last of the Commodores (on which the Monaro was based) were running the 6.2L LS3 engines, so yes, power's come on a long way since the days those were released. :)

The 05s & 06s with the LS2 still make respectable levels of power. Stock numbers, if I remember correctly are 400 hp and 400 lbft. More power than the Stinger, from a bigger naturally aspirated engine. It's easy and cheap to modify and very reliable. LSx powered vehicles stand the test of time.

Me too. Solstice turbo is a great summer car. Not quite as quick as the Stinger, but the manual makes it a blast to drive.
