Well! As pointed out by at least a couple of us, we've seen two different gear selectors so far. Which one do you like better?

The little one?

...or the big one?

If I had to choose, the second one, the only reason being that it has a manual shift gate which the E-shifter lacks. The paddles are sometimes a pain to use when the wheel is turned and the shifter is very useful in those situations.

I like the little one better. The shifter is something you hardly ever touch on an automatic (or at least it should be), I'd prefer it to be out of the way.

P.S. This forum supports poll threads.

The "little one"
  • lets you toggle through D, N, R but has P as a button.
  • very, very similar to the gear selector in the Genesis G90
The "big one"
  • moves you through D, N, R, P with the shift lever itself
  • more "traditional"
  • functions like the Cadenza gear selector
If my "gear selector" is going to be completely electronic I like the the ability to do "nontraditional" things, like hit a button for park, etc. (as long as I am not Anton Yelchin'ed because of it).

I actually like the K900's gear selector......just to throw in a third party candidate ;). Very BMW copyright infringement:

I like that one best as well. But that's the BOSS's gear selector. :D

The smaller is certainly more sporty looking, with that leather surround base. I voted this.
Found this image showing a dedicated "GT" design version. Looks the business. Yes please!
PS. That BMW style'd K900 one is great too, although may be out of place in the stinger.

I agree with you, I would definitely want the manual shift sometimes and not only just the paddles. It feels more like a manual gearbox. But I like the look of the smaller one, the big one looks like it belongs in a truck imo.

All the applications of the 8-speed trans throughout Hyundai / Kia's lineup allow you to use the gear selector in manual mode (except the Genesis G90). Then the most "performance oriented" model they have produced to date is going to copy the G90? I don't see why the "sporty" model in your line up would not have both options, in case your customer base might prefer one over the other. That is why I chose the K900 gear selector. :) Best of both worlds.

Oh no I'm the only one who voted for the big shifter! I like the chrome in it and feel it looks more expensive.
Actually, ha... I voted for the wrong one initially since the order is reversed in the poll vs. the order of the pics in the OP... so I went ahead and fixed that... a whopping 2 votes now! :D

I voted for the larger one also. Not too bad. I like them both. I'll be happy either way but I prefer the traditional kind.
