Sport - send it lol. But in all seriousness for the ppl who do the custom or comfort is there a significant difference in mpg in each drive mode? I’m mostly freeway btw for my commute to and from work.

I believe my custom is a mirror of comfort with the exception of awd being more rwd biased. I don't do it for the mileage.

Why engine at eco?
To save gas. :) Most of the time I'm driving like the grandpa I am. When I want power I do one of two things: either switch to Sport mode, or simply push the kickdown switch. Eco has plenty of *oomph* as it is, and most of the time I don't do either of those two extra boost options.

Comfort/Smart versus Sport should show in gas mileage. Sport holds the revs longer, so while it's doing that it's consuming more gas. If you're not driving it hard on the highway it may not matter since the car will just fall into the best gear eventually, it's when needing quick acceleration and for the RPMs to stay pegged a bit (rather than downshifting as soon as possible) that Sport matters.

I haven't noticed any consistent difference between MPG in Eco or Sport: but I like the idea of saving gas, so why not Eco it? If you have your foot in it a lot, Eco will not save you any gas: it only works (if it works) when being light on the throttle and smooth. I will say that the times I have bumped MPG over 30 have all been in Eco, but those are rarities.

Sport won't shift to 8th on the highway, at least at a speed that won't get you thrown in jail in the US. If you use he paddles to shift to 8th then it will stay there

also if you use cruise control in sport it will go into 8th.

What’s your custom setup and how does it affect driving dynamics if any ? Curious.

Good question. Hard to quantify on the street. I don't drive aggressively enough to tell the diff. I suppose I'd expect more wheel spin in the above scenario than with the comfort/default 50/50 front/rear mix.

Do any custom settings affect driving dynamics that you guys have noticed or is it all just personal preference ?

my custom is similar in that everything is comfort except awd in sport.. i do notice more tail happiness than pure comfort for those times i aggressively take a turn, i do this for those days i am not driving spiritedly but do want to take corners quickly with more rotation. I can definitely tell there is more rotation under throttle in a turn vs awd in comfort.

When my car was stock, the difference between sport and comfort seemed pretty noticeable, but with the lozic ECU (I had sport mode set to more aggressive sport plus in order form) sport is another level entirely. Comfort is grandma mode, sport is an absolute blast. Can't drive in comfort anymore unless long highway stretch. I can't tell you how much more fun it is. Holds gears aggressively, pedal is crazy sensitive. It seems always ready to go, whereas comfort is reluctant.

Sport mode 24/7:cool:. I haven't driven in comfort/normal mode since I bought the car last year May.

Sport with traction and stability off, unless it's raining or snowing.
How is the car with the nannies turned off? I only turned the traction and stability off when launching with launch control.

When I start the car and it's doing it's high idle thing to warm the cats up I'm turning all that off and on. Honesty it's just like all of it was on, until you floor it. I don't like partial throttle closer and power cutting that the "nannies" inflict. Of course, if it's raining or snowing, I'm ok with being a responsible adult, not that I'm just out driving like a jackass 24/7. I just like having the whole car when I want or need. I'm also AWD so it's a liitle different I guess, you will probably break the rear tires loose in certain situations.

Yeah, that's why I went with 275s in the rear. The wider tires definitely help the rear because I could break the rear just by looking at the throttle weird.

Ya I hear ya, I can get it sideways even with AWD when I want. Fun cars that's for sure, and very easy to make really fast.

Most of the time I'm in Eco, because that's like one of 2 modes that the car will default to when shut off (fail, Kia. Should just default to the last chosen setting), and when I'm daily driving it's usually slower back roads to/from the office. I never drive is Smart or Comfort.

If I feel like having fun, I switch to Sport.

I do have a custom setup I use occasionally with drivetrain set at eco and everything else set at sport. I like the extra "tightness" of the sport steering and suspension, but I've noticed that around ~35mph that Eco tends to use a gear that give me ~1.5kRPMs while maintaining speed, while Sport is ~2kRPMs. If I'm not trying to power through the twisties or accelerating hard but want a firmer setup than Eco I just use that.
