What material are the stock brake pads"

Does anyone know if the stock pads are ceramic or semi-metallic? I ordered some Girodisc pads and I am wondering if these are going to eat up the rotors?

Dealer ended up turning the rotors due to build on on them. The said they did not have to take much off, I was getting some of the dreaded pulsing at highway speeds.

North American Stingers are delivered with Ceramic pads that are relatively rotor friendly.

Europe and other markets have optional Semimetallic pads that are more aggressive.

Rotor friendly? I guess they are not as abrasive as semi-metallic but they mess the rotors up by leaving deposits which cause vibrations. I had to have mine turned at dealer today, they said there were uneven spots on them.

I meant rotor friendly, in terms of not eating away/wearing the rotor down excessively.
Yeah, pad deposits are an issue of their own.

Is everything better after having the rotors turned?
 
Oh yeh silky smooth, but I have a gut feeling this will be temporary with changing to a different pad. I don't drive that aggressively. I don't want to be changing out rotors every few thousand miles which is what it seems like I may be faced with from build-up using the stock pads.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for this issue, since I read a lot about it before I bought my car.
Seems a lot of people who aren’t necessarily hard on the brakes have been afflicted with issues.

I typically get warping and/or deposits on whatever car I drive. No sign yet on the Stinger, but I only have 1200 miles. I did hear a bit of grinding one morning after a particularly humid night. These rotors do seem to rust/ oxidize quicker than most.
Hopefully the aftermarket will bring some relief to the Stinger community.
 
when the time comes, i will be swapping out my rotors for aftermarket. The pads seem to be fine, the rotor not so much.

Hmm, that seems backwards from most of the observations on here so far. The rotors are not the problem, it's what gets on them that's the problem.
 
I would agree it is the pads that mess up the rotor. I will find out as I am going to install new rotors and gyro disc pads.

Wouldn't it be better to change the pads first and then see if the OEM rotors get the same lumpy feel as they did with the OEM pads? That way you could do research for the "the team". :P:D:thumbup:

My concern is that if it is cementite getting down into the rotors then they are going to start feeling bad again as there is more wear on the rotors and the cementite is wearing differently than the rotor material. I plan to wait until either I start getting vibration again or I need to replace the pads. I have the rotors and the pads sitting on a shelf for now.
